Girls Rock Math Scholarship Application

Girls Rock Math recognizes the importance of providing STEM enrichment through our program to any girl or family who has the desire to attend camp, regardless of economic background or resources.  Thanks to our generous donors, the Girls Rock Math scholarship fund provides access to summer camp for those who otherwise would not have the financial means to attend camp.

Application Process:

Please be as comprehensive as possible in the information you give us.  Scholarships from Girls Rock Math are not guaranteed until you receive an approval email with your award amount and instructions for registration, which will be sent no later than May 1st.  

You are responsible for any remaining balance after the scholarship funds have been issued. Any remaining balance for camp will be automatically charged to your card on file on June, 1st. Please note we cannot refund fees paid in advance of your scholarship decision.  

Awards:

We will award scholarships discounting your child’s camp week to $200, $300 or $400 at the discretion of the scholarship committee and available funding. So that we can provide funds to as many campers as possible, scholarships awards are limited to one week per child, per year.  All scholarships (except those for Kruckeberg Gardens) include free before and aftercare (typical cost of $90).

We reserve spots specifically for scholarship candidates but it is possible you will not get your preferred location and/or date due to availability as scholarship spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  

Our BIPOC Equity Access Scholarship may cover up to 100% of camp costs.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must currently be in Kindergarten-5th grade
• Washington applicants - must be a resident of Washington State 
• California applicants - must be a resident of California 
• A separate application must be completed for each child, even those in the same household
• Multi-child families may submit one set of supporting financial document

All scholarship applications are considered, but priority is given to families who meet some, or all of the following critera:

• You receive WIC, Basic Food or SNAP
• Your child qualifies for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program
• You are applying for a foster child
• Your total household income is less than 60% the median household income in your county

Parent Responses:

Financial Information and Verfication 

Scholarships are awarded based on need and determined by a set of criteria, including if combined household income is at or below 60% of the median income in your county. Aside from income, we look at household size and extenuating factors. Awards are not guaranteed to every applicant and are limited by the availability of funds. Applications will be received and reviewed on a rolling basis for as long as space and funds are available.

Income Verification:

We ask you to submit at least one the following with your application. You may black-out private information such as social security numbers, but first/last names, financial information and dates must be visible

• Your most recently completed Income Tax return (Form 1040, 1040 EZ, 1040A, etc.)
• Additionally, if applicable provide Documentation of Child Support
• Free/Reduced Lunch Qualification Letter showing participant’s first and last name
• Current SSI (Supplemental Security Income Statement)

Additionally, you may also submit:

• Proof of public benefits such as a subsidized housing approval letter
• Copy of your child’s state medical benefits card

All income information is private and is only used for scholarship determination purposes. Girls Rock Math will never share your information with anyone outside of our organization.
