ScholasTIC Tourette's Supporters, Inc. shall award 2 scholarships for the year 2023 in the amount of $2000 each. Any additional awards may be offered depending on availability of funds and by decision of the selection committee.

A committee composed of members of the STS Board of Directors will make the selection of the scholarship winners. The scholarship will be awarded to applicants who, in the opinion of the committee, are most worthy of an award based on a brief essay, scholastic record, improvement in GPA overall, future promise and financial need. Announcement of scholarships awarded will be made in July.  Scholarships are grants for the purpose of offsetting the cost of college entrance fees, books and related expenses encountered when entering the college of choice. Grant funds will be directed to the appropriate Financial Aid Office for fund distribution by the college.

    ELIGIBILITY

Any graduating high school senior residing in the U.S. with Tourette's syndrome may apply for the scholarship. Eligible students must also be qualified for admission to an accredited college (junior college or 4-year college) or trade school at mid-term or at the end of the current school year during which the award is made. The selection committee may collectively agree to allow other applicants to receive an award if funds remain and cannot be given to a California resident or if a gap year student applies and is otherwise eligible. Ineligible students are those graduating seniors whose family members serve as directors or board members for the ScholasTIC Tourette's Supporters, Inc.

  • APPLICATION 2023

Applications for scholarships are available online from STS website. Submissions will be accepted until the posted date. The selection committee cannot accept applications submitted after the date specified or that are incomplete. Application is complete when all required items have been received and postmarked by April 1, 2023.

    OBLIGATION OF AWARDEES

Scholarship recipients will be required to enroll in the first semester of college where the award is credited. If for any reason, enrollment is delayed due to illness, a certified letter from a physician will be required to allow the scholarship funds to be delayed for the current year of college admission.

    LIABILITIES AND RIGHTS

Neither the Directors nor officers of ScholasTIC Tourette's Supporters, Inc. shall be liable for the debts or conduct of the scholarship recipients. The Directors and Officers of said scholarship program reserve the right at any time to make exceptions, interpretations, modifications and amendments to the provisions hereof as they deem appropriate.

    AWARD NOTIFICATION

The recipients of the 2023 scholarships will be emailed or telephoned in August 2023. Those applicants not selected will not receive any other notification.

Checks will be distributed directly to the school once it has been verified that the recipients have been accepted and registered to an accredited university, college, technical or trade school.
