The Geneva Sustainability Centre was established in April 2022 by the International Hospital Federation (IHF) with a mission to equip hospital leaders with the information, tools and skills to provide a net positive impact for a healthy and resilient future.
We are pleased to see that, in many parts of the world, awareness of climate change as a health crisis is growing. We are also inspired by the significant number of hospitals and health systems realizing the importance of taking responsibility and action on climate change and starting to take an interest in making healthcare services more environmentally sustainable.
Therefore, we would like to create a repository of case studies from hospitals and health systems across the IHF membership. Our goals for this project include:
- Showcasing good practices across the world and across all dimensions of sustainable healthcare.
- Connecting hospitals and health systems and favoring knowledge exchange.
- Raising awareness and promoting action: no matter your hospital's "maturity level" and local setting, there is always a starting point.
These case studies will serve the Geneva Sustainability Centre's purposes on various occasions:
- For the future GSC Sustainability Accelerator Tool (an online platform to assess one organization's maturity level on its sustainability journey. Under development).
- During our presentations at members' and partners' events.
- During our training programmes.
- On our social media and communication initiatives.
Any communication of your organization's project will come with full acknowledgment and recognition of your organization.
Please note that only IHF members or hospitals affiliated to an IHF member can submit a case study.
