• Hillel Ontario Campus Advocacy Leadership Institute Application

  • This year we are launching our first-ever Leadership Institute. This inaugural class of 30 participants will be trained and empowered to help combat antisemitism on campus.
    Each student leader will receive high-impact campus advocacy training during their time in the institute. Our participants will serve as point people for advocacy on campus going forward – in the fight against BDS, antisemitism, campus elections, and in the promotion of pro-Jewish and pro-Israel events.

    Participants are required to attend and participate in each component of the institute, including:

    • Monthly training calls
    • 1-1 mentorship (2-3 times throughout the year);
    • Advocacy-related programs on campus or an independent option on the topic of advocacy
    • In-person gathering of Institute participants
    • A leadership role in campus elections;
    • Province-wide advocacy social media campaign
    • A campus advocacy-related article or blog post
    • Monthly Calls
    • Participants will attend monthly virtual meetings, facilitated by the top professionals in the advocacy and leadership fields, where they will unpack topics including but not limited to; campus advocacy, campus campaigning, strategic communications, outreach and allyship-building, etc.

    • 1-1 Mentorship
    • Each participant will be matched with a professional, lay leader, or staff, who has found success in a field our intern intends to pursue post-graduation. They will have the opportunity to build a relationship, learn from each other, and lean on their mentor as they execute their campus advocacy initiatives. We expect our mentors and interns to meet 2-3 times during the year.

    • Advocacy Program
    • Each cluster of participants from the same campus will be responsible for hosting one advocacy-related program on their campus during the Winter or Fall semester. These events will be facilitated in collaboration with their local Hillel. If there is only one intern from a given campus, they will have the opportunity to work on an independent advocacy project.

    • In-Person Conference
    • Every participant must attend our immersive training conference from October 12-15th 2023 in Ottawa. This conference will be 100% subsidized by Hillel Ontario. During the conference, our participants will be trained by some of the top experts in the fields of advocacy, leadership, communication, and allyship, all while building meaningful and long-lasting relationships with each other and the staff.
