1. Membership and Training:
1.1 Membership entitles the Member to participate in karate training sessions as scheduled by the Dojo.
1.2 Training schedules, instructors, and venues may be amended at the Dojo’s discretion, provided reasonable notice is given.
2. Payment Terms:
2.1 All training fees shall be paid on the last Thursday of each calendar month and shall be payable strictly one month in advance.
2.2 Any payment not received within five calendar days of the due date shall be deemed overdue. A late payment penalty of R30 per student, per month shall be levied on overdue accounts, unless prior written arrangements have been approved by the Dojo.
2.3 Monthly training fees are payable in full from January to December, inclusive, irrespective of attendance, public holidays, school holidays, illness, injury, or temporary suspension of participation.
3. Grading Fees:
3.1 Karate grading fees are separate from monthly training fees and must be paid in full prior to the scheduled grading date.
3.2 No student with any outstanding fees or balances shall be permitted to participate in grading examinations.
4. Contract Duration and Cancellation:
4.1 This Agreement is concluded on a twelve month basis.
4.2 The Member may cancel this Agreement at any time by providing one full calendar month’s written notice.
4.3 The applicable membership and training fees for the notice period shall remain payable in full.
4.4 Cancellation shall only take effect upon expiry of the notice period and settlement of all outstanding amounts.
5. Suspension and Termination by the Dojo:
5.1 The Dojo reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership with immediate effect in the event of:
- Serious misconduct or breach of dojo rules
- Non-payment of fees
- Behaviour deemed unsafe, disrespectful, or detrimental to the dojo or its members
5.2 In such cases, fees already paid shall not be refundable.
6. Medical Fitness and Liability:
6.1 The Member (or Parent/Guardian) warrants that the Member is medically fit to participate in karate training.
6.2 Karate is a physical contact activity and participation is at the Member’s own risk. The Dojo, its instructors, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained during training, grading, or events, except where required by law.
7. Code of Conduct:
7.1 Members shall adhere to dojo rules, instructor directives, and accepted karate etiquette at all times.
7.2 The Dojo reserves the right to update rules and codes of conduct as necessary.
8. General:
8.1 This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties.
8.2 No amendment shall be valid unless reduced to writing and signed by both parties.
8.3 South African law shall govern this Agreement.
