  • Membership Agreement:

  • 1. Membership and Training:

    1.1 Membership entitles the Member to participate in karate training sessions as scheduled by the Dojo.
    1.2 Training schedules, instructors, and venues may be amended at the Dojo’s discretion, provided reasonable notice is given.

    2. Payment Terms:
    2.1 All training fees shall be paid on the last Thursday of each calendar month and shall be payable strictly one month in advance.

    2.2 Any payment not received within five calendar days of the due date shall be deemed overdue. A late payment penalty of R30 per student, per month shall be levied on overdue accounts, unless prior written arrangements have been approved by the Dojo.

    2.3 Monthly training fees are payable in full from January to December, inclusive, irrespective of attendance, public holidays, school holidays, illness, injury, or temporary suspension of participation.

    3. Grading Fees:
    3.1 Karate grading fees are separate from monthly training fees and must be paid in full prior to the scheduled grading date.

    3.2 No student with any outstanding fees or balances shall be permitted to participate in grading examinations.

    4. Contract Duration and Cancellation:
    4.1 This Agreement is concluded on a twelve month basis.

    4.2 The Member may cancel this Agreement at any time by providing one full calendar month’s written notice.

    4.3 The applicable membership and training fees for the notice period shall remain payable in full.

    4.4 Cancellation shall only take effect upon expiry of the notice period and settlement of all outstanding amounts.

    5. Suspension and Termination by the Dojo:
    5.1 The Dojo reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership with immediate effect in the event of:

    • Serious misconduct or breach of dojo rules
    • Non-payment of fees
    • Behaviour deemed unsafe, disrespectful, or detrimental to the dojo or its members

    5.2 In such cases, fees already paid shall not be refundable.

    6. Medical Fitness and Liability:
    6.1 The Member (or Parent/Guardian) warrants that the Member is medically fit to participate in karate training.

    6.2 Karate is a physical contact activity and participation is at the Member’s own risk. The Dojo, its instructors, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained during training, grading, or events, except where required by law.

    7. Code of Conduct:
    7.1 Members shall adhere to dojo rules, instructor directives, and accepted karate etiquette at all times.
    7.2 The Dojo reserves the right to update rules and codes of conduct as necessary.

    8. General:
    8.1 This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties.
    8.2 No amendment shall be valid unless reduced to writing and signed by both parties.
    8.3 South African law shall govern this Agreement.

  • The student will require a karate uniform (gi), which may be purchased from most major sporting retailers, including Sportsmans Warehouse, Mr Price Sport, or Solly M Sports. Alternatively, uniforms can be custom made locally by a highly recommended dressmaker based in Cecil Road, Salt River; her contact details will be provided below.

    Please note that the uniform does not need to be purchased immediately. We allow parents and students time to settle into the program before making this purchase.

    In addition, the student will require a club badge, which can be purchased directly through the club at a cost of R60.

    Grading sessions are conducted every three months and take place after school hours at 18 Coleridge Road. These sessions are usually held on a Thursday evening between 18:00 and 19:00.

    Parents are not permitted to attend regular grading sessions. However, parents are invited to attend the year-end grading in December. This final grading will be held at a hall within the surrounding area, and further details will be communicated closer to the time.

  • Terms and Conditions:

  • 1. Membership Approval:
    All applications for membership are subject to final approval by the management of the Club.

    2. Membership Fees:
    The member agrees to pay all membership fees in full and on time, in accordance with the Club’s payment schedule.

    3. Contract Duration:
    This membership agreement shall be valid for a fixed period of twelve months from the date of signing.

    4. Cancellation Policy:
    Should a member wish to cancel the membership, one calendar month’s written notice must be provided prior to the expiration of the applicable contract period. The membership fee for the notice month remains payable in full.

    5. Late Payment Penalty:
    A late payment penalty of R30 per person per month will be applied to all overdue accounts.

    6. Payment Schedule:
    Membership fees are payable one month in advance, no later than the last Thursday of each month.

    7. Risk and Liability Disclaimer:
    The member acknowledges that participation in sports activities carries an inherent risk of injury. Zensekai Karate shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained as a result of participation in training, events, or related activities.

    8. Photography and Media Consent:
    Zensekai Karate may, from time to time, publish photographs of students, instructors, and supporters for promotional purposes. Members who do not consent to the use of their own or their child’s photographs must notify Zensekai Karate in writing via email.

    9. Fees and Additional Costs:
    There are no hidden costs. Grading fees are separate from monthly membership fees and vary according to student level. Grading fees start from R70 and increase as the student advances to higher levels. Grading fees are subject to change based on enhancements to testing procedures and changes in organizational affiliations.

    10. Uniform (Karate Gi):
    The Karate Gi is not sponsored by Zensekai Karate and must be purchased separately by the member.
