    WILLIAM N ETHERTON AGRICULTURAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • The objective of the William N Etherton Agricultural Scholarship program is to provide scholarships to eligible high school students who live in Sangamon County and study an agricultural curriculum. One $500 scholarship to be awarded for the Fall Semester 2026.

    To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:

    • Be a high school senior graduating in 2026, or a first-year student in a post-secondary school or vocational school.
    • Be accepted for enrollment or be enrolled at a post-secondary school or vocational school. 
    • Must be enrolled in an agricultural field of study.
    • Exhibit potential for successful completion of course studies.
    • Be a resident of Sangamon County, Illinois.
    • Past recipients may reapply, but no student may receive more than two (2) scholarships from the William N Etherton Agricultural Scholarship Fund.

     

  • The criteria for awarding the scholarship are as follows:

    • Academic performance and honors
    • ACT Score or SAT Score
    • Financial Need
    • Evidence of self-help. How is the student contributing financially to his/her education?
    • Character and personality
      • Maturity
      • Industriousness and motivation
      • Intellectual interest
      • Moral character
      • Demonstrated leadership

    Applications must be received at the Sangamon County Farm Bureau Foundation Office by March 31, 2026
