WILLIAM N ETHERTON AGRICULTURAL SCHOLARSHIP

The objective of the William N Etherton Agricultural Scholarship program is to provide private scholarships to eligible high school students who live in Sangamon County and study an agricultural curriculum. One $500 scholarship to be awarded for the Fall Semester 2023.

To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:

• Be a high school senior graduating in 2023, or a first-year student in a post-secondary school or vocational school.
• Be accepted for enrollment or be enrolled at a post-secondary school or vocational school. 
• Must be enrolled in an agricultural field of study.
• Exhibit potential for successful completion of course studies.
• Be a resident of Sangamon County, Illinois.
• Past recipients may reapply, but no student may receive more than two (2) scholarships from the William N Etherton Agricultural Scholarship Fund.

 

The criteria for awarding the scholarship are as follows:

• Academic performance and honors
• Rank in Class
• ACT Score or SAT Score
• Financial Need
• Evidence of self-help. How is the student contributing financially to his/her education?
• Character and personality
  • Maturity
  • Industriousness and motivation
  • Intellectual interest
  • Moral character
  • Demonstrated leadership

Applications must be received at the Sangamon County Farm Bureau Foundation Office by March 31, 2023

A completed application consists of the following: 

• This application form
• Official high school transcripts and post-secondary school if applicable.
• ACT or SAT Scores
• Student Photo
• Teacher recommendation(s) (Worth 5 Points)  

ALL MATERIALS MUST BE RECEIVED BY MARCH 31, 2023 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION FOR A SCHOLARSHIP. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.

Teacher's recommendation forms can be accessed by teachers on the Sangamon County Farm Bureau website www.sangamonfb.org , select the MORE dropdown at the top of the page. Go to scholarships / General Scholarships / Teacher Recommendations. This will take teachers to an online form to submit to the foundation directly. (At least one recommendation is required. Two recommendations are the maximum allowed)
