Key Info:
Hex Work Productions are filming a 20 minute documentary for The Spinoff exploring how and why Pacific youth love K-Pop and how it’s shaping their identities.
Are you obsessed with K-Pop? Like to binge K-Dramas? Perform K-Pop dance covers or songs? Thinking of entering the K-POP CONTEST NZ or the NZ Round of the K-Pop World Festival in 2023?
We're looking for a Pacific person (or persons) based in Auckland to center this story. Ideally, you’ll be actively involved in the K-Pop community through song, dance and performance. If you have friends and/or family members obsessed with K-Pop that’s a bonus, too.
Participants are required to be available for approximately 11 days for filming over a period of time between April - August 2023. This may be after school/uni/work and on weekends.
Filming this series involves spending a concentrated amount of time observing you engaging with K-Pop content both in your home and with friends (e.g. watching music videos/tv shows, listening to music), rehearsing K-Pop routines in your spare time, and how you balance your love of K-Pop with your daily life and family.
We will follow a duty of care if working with under 18s. A koha will be provided for the participants. A perfect grasp of English is not a requirement and the producers will look for ways to support non-English or non-fluent speakers of English to participate.
What do I need to do?
We have a few compulsory questions for you to complete below. However, to get a sense of who you are we invite you to upload a short video (max 2 mins) where you tell us about how you discovered K-Pop, why you love it, and your involvement within the K-Pop community. Feel free to make the video your own and include any friends or family!
Please feel free to also share the link to this callout with your friends and whānau and contact Aleisha Thorne, Producer - aleisha@hexworkproductions.co.nz if you have any questions.
Registrations close Monday 6th March 2023.
