2023 Façade and Property Improvement Grant Application
  • 2023 Façade and Property Improvement Grant Application

The Small Business Facade and Property Improvement Program provides grants to commercial property owners and business owners willing to renovate the street-front exteriors of their structures. A commercial building that has a primary purpose as a place of worship or apartments are not eligible for the façade grant program. Commercial buildings that house establishments related to gambling, gun stores, adult bookstores, etc. are not eligible for the program. This funding round is open to projects in Marion County.

Commercial improvements could include new signage, exterior lighting, windows, doors, murals, painting, and/or structural or design changes. Please be sure to review the 2023 Program Guidelines before filling out the form. This is a rebate program where business and property owners receive reimbursement for between 50-90% of the cost of the project in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 for completed work.

The following will be prioritized to award in 2023:

    • Minority-owned properties and businesses
    • Small businesses and property owned by Indianapolis residents
    • Commercial property or businesses located in LISC neighborhoods
    • Façade improvements that incorporate design elements to prevent crime
    • Exterior improvements that can be completed in 6 months

Once started, the application progress cannot be saved. Please allow sufficient time to fully complete the form and make sure to have all required attachments (estimates, project budget, financial statement, and photos of the building) ready before beginning.

You should hear back about the status of your application within 2-8 weeks (depending on when the application was submitted). Please plan your project timeline accordingly as any costs incurred for work started prior to notice of grant award cannot be reimbursed.
