This award was approved by the IFTPS Board of Directors on November 17, 1999 to honor and remember the late Dr. Marvin Tung's contributions to IFTPS and his achievements in teaching, research and consulting.
Criteria for Award:

This award is given in recognition of academic, regulatory or industrial achievement in the areas of "preservation and packaging of foods". In the context of this award, teaching will be recognized as advising/mentoring, short courses, workshops and consulting, as well as teaching in an academic setting. Past commitment to the goals and mission of IFTPS should be a consideration in nominations for the award; however, service to the Institute is not a primary consideration. Numbers (papers, books, students, previous awards, etc.), academic tenure and corporate rank are not the predominant criteria. Nominations of deserving individuals who may often go unrecognized is encouraged.
Nominations:

Nominations for the Award may be made by students, associates, peers or other members of the Institute, not by oneself. Information required for nominations is available from IFTPS Headquarters or through the IFTPS website (iftps.org). All nominees not selected for the award in a given year will be carried over to the following year for reconsideration.
Selection Process:

The awardee will be selected by a jury appointed by the Board of Directors. If there are no qualified nominees, there will be no award in that year.
