  • Adopt-A-Yard-Tree Interest Form

In 2023, Friends of the Urban Forest launched a new program to provide free yard trees to residents in low-canopy neighborhoods. If you live in an eligible neighborhood and are interested in adopting a free fruit tree or California native tree, fill out the form below, and a staff member from Friends of the Urban Forest will follow up soon with more information.
  • We are currently giving away free yard trees in neighborhoods highlighted in purple. Is your request for a tree in the highlighted area?

    • Here is the link to the map to take a closer look: Adopt-A-Yard-Tree Distribution Map
    • Click on the Search icon on the left and type in your address to determine if you are inside the highlighted area.

  •  Please note

    1. Trees must be planted on private property (yards, gardens, etc.) within the tree planting zones listed above.

    2. Trees must be planted in the ground and not kept in their containers.

    3. You are responsible for planting and caring for the tree. We will provide resources and guidelines for planting and caring for your new tree.

    4. Trees are distributed in 5-gallon containers and are typically 3-6 feet tall.

  • Because your address falls outside the dark gray tree distribution zone, you won't be eligible to participate in the Adopt-A-Yard-Tree program at this time.

If you are interested in other ways to get involved with our organization, please visit the Ways to Volunteer page on our website and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
