D1 Elite was formed in 2020 to allow players from the East AL and West GA area the opportunity to play against top-level competition nationally. If you have been involved in AAU basketball or travel baseball you realize there is a difference between true national-level teams and local teams that play in average tourneys. We are a top-level team that seeks out the best competition. We do not "trophy chase". We want to compete against the best.
In our first season, we finished nationally ranked in the Top 10 in both 15u and 18u (the only two age groups that season) winning 2 tourneys and finishing in the Final 4 of the NFA Myrtle Beach tournament (the largest tournament in the 7v7 circuit at the time) as well as a Final 4 finish in the NFA Gatlinburg tourney earning ourselves a birth in the National Championship held at IMG in Bradenton Florida. Our 15u won the YPL Carrollton tournament (2nd largest tournament in the nation) while out 18u finished in the Final 4. We went on to win or place in multiple other nationally recognized tournaments that season.
Last season we added 12u and continued our winning finishing top 4 in all tourneys they played in as well as being Champions of another. 18u and 15u experienced some of the same success they had the previous season.
D1 Elite has become a well-known team on the National Circuit playing in top tournaments against elite competition. The majority of the tournaments we play in will have scouts from the recruiting services such as 24/7 Sports, Rivals, On3, and others. We will seek out the best competition. We have played and beaten most of the well-known national teams on the circuit and will continue to build teams to compete on a national level. We are not interested in playing in mediocre tourneys against mediocre competition. This means that we may need to travel some to find the competition we are looking for.
Over 20 D1 Elite players have signed scholarships to play at the next level the past two seasons. While we are only a small part of their journey many feel their experience playing on the national scene either helped them earn their scholarship or was the reason they were even noticed. We do not make promises about scholarship opportunities. Ultimately it is up to the player to put good film out on Friday nights for their high school but the exposure received on the 7v7 circuit is invaluable. 7v7 has and will continue to unlock doors.
