• Class of 2029 Course Registration Form

    2026-2027 Sophomore Year Courses
  • The Program of Studies is also available on the Class of 2029 Schoology page and on the school's website.

  • Next, you'll begin selecting courses.

  • Course Requests

  • There are 8 periods in the regular school day. You are already pre-enrolled in AP Seminar, and you must take:

    • AP English Language and Composition
    • AP World History: Modern
    • Honors Chemistry
    • World Language (The next level)
    • Mathematics (The next level)

For your 7th slot, we strongly encourage sophomores to enroll in AP U.S. Government and either AP Microeconomics or AP Macroeconomics. Taking these courses now creates more flexibility in your junior and senior year schedules for other electives. If you choose not to take these courses this year, please select the "Opt Out" option below.

For your 8th slot, assuming you successfully completed your current coursework and take the recommended AP Gov/Econ, you may choose one of the following to round out your schedule:

    • Option A: One year-long elective.
    • Option B: Two semester-long electives.

    Important Notes on Scheduling

    • Extended Day Courses: Certain electives, such as Instrumental Music and Musical Theater, occur outside the regular 8-period school day.
    • Online Coursework (CS 4565 & Economics): These courses occur outside the regular school day. Please note that online Economics is only an option if you have filled all 8 school-day slots with other courses (this does not include Silent Study).
  • Required: Group 1 Language

You must take one Group 1 Language course each year of high school, and you must earn a C or better in all 4 of your English classes to stay on track for the New Indiana Diploma: Enrollment with Honors Plus Seal.

  • Required: Group 2 Language

You continue your four-year world language sequence and must earn a C or better at each stage in the sequence to stay on track for the New Indiana Diploma: Enrollment with Honors Plus Seal.

You can only make one choice on this page. However, if you want to request a second world language for your year-long sophomore elective, you certainly may do so. Simply indicate which class you wish to take in the box marked "Additional Courses" near the end of the form and include this class on the list of your course choices in the final box marked "Summary."

  •  Required: Group 3 Individuals and Societies

You must take the year-long AP World History: Modern* which requires a C or better for the New Indiana Diploma: Enrollment with Honors Plus Seal.

*If you are a transfer student and are currently taking AP World History and need AP US History next year, please note this in the comment section at the end of the form.

  • Additional Group 3 Individuals and Societies Electives

AP U.S. Government and either AP Microeconomics or AP Macroeconomics are graduation requirements. We strongly encourage sophomores to enroll in these courses now to create more flexibility for other electives in your junior and senior year schedules.

Diploma Requirement: You must earn a grade of C or better in each of these courses to qualify for the New Indiana Diploma: Enrollment with Honors Plus Seal.

In-Person vs. Online: We prioritize in-person instruction for these courses. Online AP Microeconomics or Macroeconomics is available only if you cannot fit the in-person offerings into your 8-period schedule. You are only eligible for the online option if you have filled all 8 school-day slots with other courses (this does not include Silent Study).

  • Required: Group 4 Experimental Sciences

Honors Chemistry: You must take this course as a sophomore. You must complete it with a grade of C or better to qualify for the New Indiana Diploma: Enrollment with Honors Plus Seal.

Computer Science: To fulfill New Indiana Diploma requirements, you must complete either Computing Foundations for a Digital Age (CS 4565) (one-semester online) or AP Computer Science A (year-long).

    • Note on Timing: While this is a graduation requirement rather than a specific sophomore requirement, you may choose to take the online CS 4565 course during your sophomore year to free up your future schedule. Please note that AP Computer Science A is not an option for sophomores and must be taken in a later year.
    • Honors Eligibility: You must complete your chosen CS course with a grade of C or better for the Honors Plus Seal.

  • Additional Group 4 Experimental Sciences Electives

AP Environmental Science is a pre-requisite for IB Environmental Systems and Societies SL, a year-long course that satisfies both Group 3 and Group 4 IB diploma requirements. It may be taken in junior year.

    AP Physics

    • This course requires a strong math background. AP Precalculus/A2T is the recommended co-requisite for this course.

    • This course is a pre-requisite for IB Physics SL/AP Physics 2.

  • Required: Group 5 Mathematics

You must take one mathematics course each year, and you must earn a C or better in all 4 of your mathematics classes to stay on track for the New Indiana Diploma: Enrollment with Honors Plus Seal.

Below, is a course sequence to help you choose with teacher input. If students choose a course that does not align with teacher recommendation, we will contact families.

You may double up in mathematics, taking both Honors Geometry and AP Precalculus (Algebra 2/T).

  • Group 6 The Arts Electives

You may take one or more courses.

    • Instrumental Music meets before school, 7:30-8:20.
      • Orchestra meets on Mondays and Wednesdays.
      • Band meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
      • Jazz Band meets on Fridays.
    • Musical Theatre is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-5:00.

  • Repeated Courses

If you have to repeat a course because you earned a D or F in a class required for the Indiana Diploma: Enrollment with Honors Plus Seal (see p. 4 of the Program of Studies), we will re-enroll you in that course as soon as space allows, next year if possible. In this case, we will not be able to honor the requests you indicate above.

In keeping with our weighted grade policy, when you repeat a class, your GPA is figured based on the higher final grade earned. However, if you repeat only the fall or spring semester of an AP or IB class and do not take the AP or IB exam, you will not receive a weighted grade for class.

    Please answer the question below.

  • Silent Study Requests, Additional Courses, and Comments

  • Silent Study Requests

You may elect to take a Silent Study for fall, spring, or both semesters. When making this decision, consider these items:

    • You will not earn a credit towards your diploma and so may not have room in your schedule to take a Silent Study during your junior or senior year.
    • You will lose an opportunity for academic exploration ahead of the junior-year AP Research project.
    • Silent Study is meant for students able to work independently and silently on academic requirements. Silent Study students must check in with their supervising teachers at the start of each period for attendance. We will find alternative course placement for students who register for Silent Study but who prove unable to meet behavioral expectations.

If you wish to take a Silent Study, choose Fall Semester, Spring Semester, or both below. We will then have you type your name to indicate that you understand the expecations of Silent Study students.

  • Summary

  •
  • Every attempt will be made to accommodate student requests. However, final scheduling will be determined based on staffing and funding.

Once you hit submit, students and guardians will receive an email of course selections.
