  • Please read this contract in its entirety

All CURRENT pets in a household MUST be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccines before any adoption will be considered for approval.

Petty Pawz Rescue reserves the right to accept or deny any application or potential adopter for the safety and wellbeing of the animal(s).

  • 6. Adopter understands and agrees that at no point should an animal be mutilated in the form of declawing, ear clipping, tail docking, or in any way that is cosmetic and not approved by Petty Pawz Rescue or a licensed veternarian. This is cause for immediate removal of the animal from the family.

  • 7.The Adopter agrees that the animal will be kept only as a domesticated house pet. This means that dogs will be kept indoors except for periods of exercise or potty breaks in a fenced-in yard or on a leash. Cats will be kept indoors at all times unless a screened-in porch or similar type enclosure is available.

  • 8.(a)The Adopter further agrees to provide proper veterinary care for the animal. This includes dental, emergencies, routine care, keeping up with vaccines, and any other veternarian maintanance that animal may require. The adopter is responsible for any ongoing medical care the animal may require once contract is signed and submitted. We recommend the adopter have the animal examined by a licensed veternarian within 1-2 weeks of adopting. The health and history of the animal is unknown and Petty Pawz Rescue discloses all services and treatments given to the animal while in our care. Signing this contract releases Petty Pawz Rescue from all financial responbility on this animal.

    (b) I am aware of all costs associated with being a pet owner including but not limited to food and supplies, licensing, veterinary costs, vaccines, medications, grooming, and any unexpected expenses that come with owning a pet.

  • 9.If the Adopter is a tenant, then Adopter agrees to provide written permission or provide contact information from the landlord or property manager consenting to the animal adoption at Petty Pawz Rescue's request

  • 10. a.)In the event the animal is too young to be spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, the adopter agrees to have their animal spayed or neutered before or around the age of 6 months old unless a veteranarian deems the animal unfit for surgery or delays surgery for developmental purposes not to exceed 12 months of age. Adopter must provide proof the of delayed spay or neuter by signed letter from the veternarian or by phone verification made by Petty Pawz Rescue. The adopter agrees to use the clinic Petty Pawz Rescue recommends which is provided to the adopter at the time of adoption. If the adopter chooses to use their own veternarian services, they are responsible for the spay and neuter cost at their expense and it will not be covered by Petty Pawz Rescue. The adopter is still required to send proof upon completion of the surgery. If the adopter fails to get their animal spayed or neutered by the time provided by the rescue, the contract becomes breached and legal action will be taken to confiscate the animal.

b.)The adopter will NOT attempt to breed the animal while waiting for the scheduled spay and neuter date. This is grounds for immediate removal of the animal at the adopter's expense, should legal action be taken.

The adopter agrees and will comply to the following:

    Spay and Neuter Contract Agreement:

All animals adopted through Petty Pawz Rescue will be required to be spayed or neutered unless otherwise recommended by a professional, licensed veternarian. It is a state law in Virginia that animals adopted from animal shelters or rescue agencies are to be spayed and neutered within a certain timeframe if they are not already. The law is as followed:

"Virginia law mandates all rescues and shelters to submit certifications for every adopted dog and cat confirming that the animal has been spayed or neutered within thirty days of adoption if the animal is already sexually mature, or within six months plus thirty days if the animal was not yet sexually mature."

Individuals refusing to spay and neuter their adopted animal will automatically be denied rights to adopt and denied for future adoptions. Petty Pawz Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption in order to protect the welfare and best interest of the animal(s).

The Adopter agrees and acknowledges that

-The adopted animal(s) must be spayed or neutered on or before the age or 6 months. Certain breeds require a longer development timeframe at which a vet will recommend what is best for the breed and animal.

    - The adopter agrees to Petty Pawz Rescue's spay/neuter date given at the time of adoption

    - Petty Pawz Rescue will use the clinic of their choice. The adopter must make arrangements to transport the animal(s) to their scheduled appointment. Missed appointments will be at the expense of the adopter and can result in the animal being seized by the Rescue.

-Proof of spay and/or neuter will be provided to Petty Pawz Rescue for documentation purposes. The rescue has rights to these records.

-Refusing or delaying an animal's spay/neuter will result in legal action against the adopter and removal of the animal.

-At no time will the animal(s) interact with unaltered (spayed/neutered) animals until the animal has been spayed or neutered. The adopter will NOT attempt to breed the animal adopted through Petty Pawz Rescue.

    Spay and Neuter Appointments:

Petty Pawz Rescue partners with low cost spay and neuter clinic in our to financially afford the medical care for all of our animals. Our adoption fee is based of the charges from the clinic. At this time, we can not pay the cost of a private vet or a vet that the adopter chooses. If the adopter chooses their own vet, they will be responsible for the full cost of the vetting and vaccines. The adoption fee will remain the same either way. If the adopter chooses their own vet they are still responsible for the entire cost of the spay/neuter, vaccines, and whatever else the animal may need. We highly encourage using the clinic that our rescue uses in order to have the medical cost fully covered by the rescue.

By signing this contract you agree to the terms and condition stated above and agree to the responbility of the adopted animal.

  • DOG/CAT PARASITE DISCLOSURE

ALL puppies and kittens adopted from Petty Pawz Rescue have been dewormed with a basic dewormer upon arrival, during, and before leaving the custody of the rescue. The adopter understands that this does not mean they are 100% cleared of certain parasites. Petty Pawz Rescue highly recommends ALL dogs and cats under 6 months of age, adopted from Petty Pawz Rescue, have a fecal examination by a licensed veternarian within the first week of adoption. We do not recommend allowing current animals in contact with the adopted animal until a fecal examination has been completed and the animal has been cleared.
