12. ACMEA Board members (President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, and Directors) are volunteers and do not receive release time from work. As such, they are currently unable to conduct site visits, engage with members, interface with politicians, or address any operational needs during regular business hours. They can only conduct these activities on their personal time. This limitation significantly impedes our union's effectiveness, leads to burnout, and is not sustainable.
In order to become a stronger union and align ACMEA with the way our members want us to function, the ACMEA Board is considering the following:
The establishment of a pool of hours reserved for use by the Board. These hours would be accrued by deducting two hours (not days) per person per year from everyone in the bargaining unit, whether someone pays dues or not.
