    Counselor/Junior Counselor Application

    To apply to be a Counselor, you must be at least 18 years old or have completed 12th grade by the start of staff training. To apply to be a Junior Counselor, you must be 17 years old or have completed 11th grade by the start of staff training. Once you submit this application and you have been accepted as a Counselor/Junior Counselor by the Camp Directors, you should fill out the Camp Wilmot 2023 Staff Registration Form.
  • Description of Role:

    All counselors hold a variety of responsibilities at Camp Wilmot: from leading activity blocks to worship services to Bible studies, the counselors are asked to care for the physical and emotional well-being of their campers throughout the summer. Counselors will sleep in cabins of up to 10 same-gendered campers and will lead them in cabin-bonding activities, Bible studies, and will make lasting connections with the campers. Counselors will have support for any camper or personal situation that arises from Camp Directors. All of the responsibilities of the Counselors will be thoroughly reviewed and practiced during staff training, covering topics from trauma informed care to how to build an accepting community to how to lead activity blocks.   • I understand that:

    a) The camp may deny employment to any person who answers “yes” to any one of the questions above. If hired and the employer later discovers circumstances that would indicate a “yes” answer to any of the above questions, employment may be terminated immediately.
    b) The information provided on this form is subject to verification, which may include a criminal history check and request from any Central Registry of child abusers. (A separate release form may be required)
    c) The camp may terminate employment or volunteer service of any person if that person is found, regardless of when discovered, to:

    have a history of complaints of abuse of a minor; have resigned, been terminated, or been asked to resign from a position whether paid or unpaid, due to complaint(s) of sexual abuse of a minor; and/or
    have falsified or omitted information in this disclosure statement.

    d) This disclosure statement must be updated yearly and immediate notification provided to the camp if any information provided changes.
