Description:
Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! Cookies by Cary is here to help! In these 1.5 to 2 hour class, we'll cover the basics to sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided at class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on things to bring, cancellations, and refunds are below - looking forward to having you with us.
About the Classes:
These classes are for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you!
We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4-6 icing colors, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing is required. Just decorate!
These classes will start promptly so we can have enough time to decorate and answer questions along the way. Class will last one to two hours (again depending on the class). Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
These classes are good for ages 6 and up, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on kit (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - I'll send you the class Slideshow so you can teach them yourself! All kids between the ages 6-12 must have their own ticket and be accompanied by a paying adult. Kids younger than 6 can not attend class.
Family friendly cookie classes are new! We will be decorating 3 cookies in about 1 hour. This class is great for all ages! I typically promote my decorating classes for ages 6 and up, but if you have younger kids, use your best judgement for this event. Everyone in attendance MUST have their own ticket (parents and children). If you arrive with someone who does not have a ticket (any age), I will ask that you take your kits to go and not stay for class. I have ticket options to save a little money if buying tickets for your whole family - 2 for $75 or 1 for $40. Everyone will receive their own set of cookies. If you want to focus on helping the kids decorate and take your own cookie set home, you are welcome to do so!
Most classes are held at the Franklin Road Library in the meeting room at the entance. When you arrive, park in the main parking lot and come in the front door. The meeting room is in the entrance. You will see a big cookie decorating sign at the front door! If your class is in another location, I will send parking directions the week of class.
Things to Bring:
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slideshow to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
Bring a good attitude! Decorating is fun, but also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
Cancelation / Refund / Sick Policy:
Need to cancel your class? I offer a full refund if you cancel 7 days before your class. If you cancel 3-6 days before class, I can only offer you a credit for a future class for up to 1 year. If you cancel within 72 hours of your class, no refund or credit can be given. If you can't make the class, but would still like to pick up your cookie decorating kit, please contact me before class start time to make arrangements.
Showing Symptoms of Being Sick within 72 hours of class:
For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 3-day refund policy, please email me before your class’s start time, and I’ll give you a credit for the next class!
You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:
If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you’re feeling sick!
