Thank you for serving as a reviewer for the Transcultural Nursing Society Conference. Your expertise helps ensure that our conference features high‑quality, culturally congruent scholarship that advances transcultural nursing practice, education, research, and leadership.
This form will guide you through a clear, step‑by‑step review process:
• Provide your name and credentials and confirm no conflicts of interest
• Identify the abstract you are reviewing using the abstract number provided.
• Select the abstract type (Research, Evidence‑Based Practice, or Non‑Research).
• Evaluate the abstract using the appropriate scoring rubric.
• Provide an overall recommendation for acceptance and presentation type.
• Offer constructive comments for authors and final decisions on the abstracts.
The review typically takes 15–20 minutes to complete. Please base your evaluation solely on the content provided in the abstract and apply the scoring criteria consistently.

Abstract Submission Criteria
All abstracts submitted to the Transcultural Nursing Society (TCNS) Conference must meet the following requirements:
1. Alignment With Conference Theme
- Abstracts must clearly address the conference theme and objectives.

Analyze global healthcare challenges through the perspectives of culturally diverse nurses and populations.

Apply transcultural nursing theories and evidence-based models to enhance culturally congruent care.

Incorporate a transcultural lens in education, research, leadership, and multidisciplinary practice.

Evaluate ethical frameworks guiding equitable and culturally responsive healthcare.
2. Submission Requirements
- All abstracts must be submitted through the secure online submission system.
- Abstracts are limited to 500 words.
- References may be included within the body of the abstract only.
A separate reference list should not be included.
3. Ethical and Regulatory Requirements
- 3a. IRB Review Requirements
• Research and Evidence-Based Practice/Quality Improvement(EBP/QI) presentations must have undergone Institutional Review Board (IRB) review.
• IRB‑exempt studies must indicate their exemption status and will be reviewed as research if the project involves systematic inquiry intended to contribute to generalizable knowledge.
- 3b. Indigenous Populations
Research or other presentations involving indigenous populations must include:
• Approval from the appropriate council or governing body of the indigenous community, and
• If the work is research, IRB approval or IRB exemption documentation from the author’s institution.
- 3c. Required IRB Status Disclosure
All research, QI, and EBP submissions must identify one of the following:
• IRB Approved
• IRB Exempt
• Not Human Subjects Research
• Not Applicable (e.g., conceptual, theoretical, symposium)
4. Presentation Type Requirements
4a. Research‑Based Podium Presentations
- Only completed research will be accepted for podium presentations if the abstract includes results of an investigation.
- Research‑based abstracts should follow the IMRAD structure:
Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion.
4b. Symposium Podium Presentation (Non‑Research)
Non‑research scholarly work appropriate for a podium session may be submitted under this category.
- These presentations may include:
• Conceptual or theoretical work
• Program descriptions
• Educational innovations
• Practice models
• Policy or leadership perspectives
• Cultural case analyses
• Community engagement or partnership initiatives
- Notes:
• These presentations do not require IRB approval.
• They do not include research results.
• They are distinct from non‑podium symposium submissions.
5. Poster Presentation Eligibility
- Poster abstracts may include:
• Pilot projects
• Ongoing research
• Preliminary analyses
• Literature reviews
• Other non‑research projects
6. Originality of Work
- Abstracts must represent new work, including:
- Original ideas, concepts, improvements, or revisions of existing concepts.
- Presentations previously delivered only at the local level (e.g., at the home institution or local chapter) may be submitted to the international Transcultural Nursing Society conference.
7. Required Relevance to Transcultural Nursing
- Each abstract must include a section addressing the significance or relevance of the work to the development of transcultural nursing knowledge.
8. Submission Deadline
- The extended deadline for abstract submission is midnight Eastern Daylight Time on June 1, 2026.
