We generally review and process applications on a quarterly basis during the months of January, April, July & October. If you have a clean-up event coming up that you would like to use these tools for, please note this in your application.
Eligibility:
- Grants are available on a rolling basis to new and established cleanup groups.
- Groups can receive 1 grant / 12-month award period.
- Grantees must agree to host 3 cleanup events over a 12-month time period starting from the date that tools are received. These events must be free to attend and open to members of the public regardless of race, gender, religious identity, disability, sexual orientation, or the age of participants.
Community-led cleanup groups are eligible for one tool starter kit micro-grant per 12-month period; however, they can apply for other Sanitation Foundation grant opportunities once they have completed all grant requirements, as outlined in this agreement, even if they are still within the reporting period for the current agreement.
Tool Grants Include:
5 Litter Pickers
10 Pair of Gloves
1 Broom & Dustpan Set
25 Trash Bags
1 Scale
1 Reusable Tote
1 First Aid Kit
1 Hand Sanitizer
Grant Reporting Requirements:
1. Complete and submit the DSNY Volunteer Cleanup Application two weeks prior to each of the 3 events, to provide DSNY with information about where your event will take place, as well as where you will leave filled bags for DSNY to collect. Please copy volunteer@sanitationfoundation.org when emailing customerservice@dsny.nyc.gov.
2. Complete a Post Event Survey within two weeks after each event.
3. Upon the completion of the reporting period, the grantee will be sent a survey to provide feedback about their experience. Survey responses will be anonymous, and responses will not have any influence over award decisions for future grants.
Additional details about reporting requirements will be included in grant award letters.
