Our Board Members represent a broad cross-section of the business and professional leadership of the community. Each Director is very important to the Board, so an understanding is in order about each Board Member's responsibilities upon election.
As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the business community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization.
Directors serve for a two-year term. Directors may be re-elected for additional terms as deemed necessary by the Board.
Obligations and Responsibilities: The obligations and responsibilities of a Director include:
Commitment to the work of the Chamber, as defined in the Board of Directors Committee.
A willingness to serve and actively participate.
Being informed of the services provided by the CoC and publicly supporting them.
Attendance and participation at the Annual Banquet usually held the second Friday in November.
Attendance and participation at the Brookville Community Picnic, always held the last full weekend in July.
Attendance and participation at regular or special board meetings. (Regular meetings are held bi-weekly on Fridays at noon, usually at the chamber office).
Being aware and abstaining from any conflict of interest.
Being accountable to the members for the service provided and funds expended.
Fostering a positive working relationship with other Board members and the CoC Staff.
Directors will be asked to sign a conflict of interest, code of conduct, and confidentiality policies.
