Eligible Abstract Submissions:

• Eligible abstracts are those that have not been published in a peer reviewed journal prior to July 1, 2023.
• Submissions presented at other organizations' meetings in the past year are eligible.
• Abstracts that are not copyrighted are eligible for submission.
• The submitting author is to check whether material is copyrighted.
• Abstracts are limited to 350 words.

Oral Abstracts:

Two submitted abstracts will be selected by the abstract reviewers for oral presentation to the general NHS assembly during the conference.

Abstract Categories:

Research: Abstracts reporting clinical or basic science research as well as systematic reviews of a clinical problem. Also included and encouraged are quality improvement and patient safety research.

Innovations: Abstracts describing innovative programs in inpatient neurology and care delivery are encouraged under this category. Innovations are primarily descriptive and may include preliminary data. Please note that all innovation submissions must report an activity that has already been piloted or implemented in the health care setting. Innovations include: clinical pathway development, medical education, faculty development, computerized medical records, billing and collections, patient safety, communications, care team coordination.

Clinical Vignettes: These abstracts are reports of one or more cases that illustrate a new disease entity or unusual clinical feature of an established disease, highlight an area of clinical controversy or illustrate a unique patient safety issue. It should include a summary of pertinent patient history, physical findings, laboratory data, management description and it should be clear why the vignette is relevant to inpatient neurology.

Research abstracts should use the following headings: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions (Do not use the phrase "The results will be discussed.")

Innovation abstracts should use the following headings: Background, Purpose, Description, Conclusions

Clinical vignettes should use the following headings: Case Presentation, Discussion, Conclusions

AUTHORS

Please list all authors in order of authorship. The maximum number of authors this form will accept is 8. If you would like to list additional authors beyond 8, please make a note of each additional author's name, degree, affliation, and statement of conficts of interest in the text box at the end of the authorship section.

Author/Submitter Responsibility:

The first author/presenter should be a member of the NHS or in the process of membership application. If selected, the first author will present the poster at the in-person annual NHS meeting. Other authors need not be NHS members.

Conflicts of Interest Policy:

The Neurohospitalist Society promotes improved inpatient care, teaching and research in the field of hospital neurology. All authors submitting abstracts are required to disclose any relationships with pharmaceutical companies, biomedical device manufacturers or other organizations that could represent potential conflicts in their presentation. The first-author/presenting author is responsible for providing disclosure information for all co-authors in relation to the abstract entry.
