Welcome!

We invite and welcome applications from anyone interested in joining a board who is interested in promoting and upholding our equality-based, child-centred, democratic and co-eduational approach to education.

If you believe in these values and are interested in joining a school board of management please read on, then fill in the form and click 'submit' at the end.

Voluntary-This is a voluntary, unpaid role.

Declaration-you'll be asked to make a declaration; this is us asking you to confirm that you are eligible to join a board, and it satisfies certain legal requirements.

Shortlisting-all applications will be read by the volunteer officer, and may be shortlisted. This means not everyone who applies will be interviewed.

Interview-suitable candidates will be interviewed. There is no need to worry about this, it's not a formal interview, but we do need to make sure that all our volunteers on boards are suitable for their roles.

Board of Management Functions

The school board of management performs the following functions:
- ensures child protection oversight
- oversees budgeting and financial management
- is the employer of all the school staff, recruits staff and issues contracts of employment
- ensures school plan is developed and implemented
- oversees school policy development including admissions policy
- ensure school fulfils its legal obligations
- reports to the patron body and the department of education as needed
- maintains good communication with school community and wider community
- works to build positive relationships and minimise and address conflict
You may have skills relevant to one or more of the above functions. Direct experience on a board of management is not a requirement.

Applicants who are deemed suitable but are not immediately matched with board vacancies will be given the option to remain on our database for future vacancies arising during the term of office.

Details of all other applicants will be deleted from our database by 31 December 2023.
