Call for Art Submission

Thank you for your interest in submitting artwork to be displayed at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Please review the submission guidelines on the following pages, and then fill out the information and upload the appropriate files for your work to be considered. You may select a specific show to apply to, or submit your work to our general database of artists. Please contact Gallery@Callanwolde.org if you have any questions or concerns before submitting.

Callanwolde is located at 980 Briarcliff Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30306. The Gallery is located on the second floor of the historic mansion. Elevator access is available behind the library.

Callanwolde Gallery Artwork Submission Guidelines:

• All works must be original. No reproductions or giclée prints (framed original photographs, woodcuts, etchings, and works of other printmaking mediums are allowed).

• Individual works must not exceed 30 pounds.

• All works must be delivered ready to hang using our Walker Hanging System or ready to rest firmly on a pedestal (ceramics, jewelry, textiles, sculpture, etc.). Works that are not wired properly may be excluded from the show.

• Work that requires special installation instructions may not be accepted. Artists are not allowed to put nails, screws, or other hardware into the walls or ceilings. Special installation instructions will be considered on a case-by-case basis but cannot be guaranteed.

• Textile works may be displayed on pedestals or hung on our Walker hanging systems using fishing line, clips, etc.

• No adhesives can be attached to the walls except for the small vinyl labels used to identify each piece. No command strips, no double-sided tape, no Velcro, nothing.

• All works on paper must be framed under glass or acrylic. All frames MUST have taut wire on the back for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are not compatible with the Walker system. Special considerations can be made specifically re glass or acrylic requirement

• Stretched canvas works do not have to be framed if they use at least 1" stretcher bars and have no staples or tacks showing. They must have taut wire on the back, and finished edges are strongly encouraged.

• Video works can be shown on monitors/TVs if the artist provides all equipment and is responsible for their own insurance.

• Display easels and panels are not permitted.

• Gallery Staff/Jurors will curate the placement of works for group shows.

• FINAL SELECTION AND PLACEMENT OF WORKS TO BE EXHIBITED RESTS WITH Callanwolde's GALLERY TEAM.

• All art must be “family friendly”; no explicit violence or depictions of sexual acts are allowed. Callanwolde has the right to refuse any art deemed inappropriate for display due to content or condition.

• All art work must be for sale. Callanwolde retains a 30% commission on all works sold. Works MUST remain on display until the end of the exhibition. Artist will be paid for any/all sales within 3 weeks of the end of the show.

• Artists are responsible for Insurance if desired.

USDSubmitting your artwork to exhibit is free. We do not believe that cost should be a prohibiting factor in an artists ability to apply to exhibit work. Donating is non-refundable and does not have any influence on the acceptance of works into an exhibition. Donating does not guarantee entry, and not donating does not mean work will not be accepted. Donations collected will support our mission and go towards enhancing gallery programming by expanding the budget for juror fees, prize money, gallery supplies, administrative costs, etc. If you are interested in donating but not sure how much, know that it is standard for some galleries to charge $15-$45 per piece to submit. If donating, choose what amount feels comfortable to you.
