    Hardy & Nance Studios is pleased to announce our Call for Entries for the "the ABSTRACT art show" event that will be displayed on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 5-10 pm. This call for entries is open to all artists in Houston and surrounding areas working on 2D & 3D media.

    THEME: Abstract art that explores the relationships of shape, form, color and line to create a composition that breaks away from the traditional representation of physical objects. Examples of Abstract Artists include Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, Frank Ammerlann, & Liam Everett - just to name a few.

    SIZE RESTRICTIONS: 2D/wall hanging artwork cannot exceed 72" on any side (including frame if applicable). 3D stand-alone artwork must fit through a standard door and able to be easily lifted/moved by one or two people.

    *No AI-generated images. No bodily fluids. Art with glitter or other loose mediums such as confetti, sand, etc. must be completely sealed so that it does not come off when handled.

  • SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

    Artists can submit images and information for up to four (4) pieces no later than Sunday, September 8, 2025 at 11:59 pm. This is a curated show, so some pieces may not be chosen. 

    Image files no larger than 2MB. Images must be labeled Last Name, First Name, Title. (ex. Smith_John_Untitled1.jpg)

    • All notifications of acceptance will be sent via email on/by Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

  • ARTWORK ENTRY FEE:

    The entry fee for this show is $15 cash per accepted piece, due at drop off. There is no fee to submit images for consideration.

    There is NO commission fee involved and therefore artists are required to handle all sales transactions. Be sure to have Square, Paypal, Venmo, or other applications to take credit card sales. If an artist is unable to handle any sales transaction, Hardy & Nance Studios is happy to facilitate the sale on your behalf for a 20% stipend to cover processing & handling fees.

  • THE IMPORTANT STUFF:

    1. All artwork must be created by the artist, and cannot have been previously shown in the Hardy & Nance Gallery. We allow Not For Sale (NFS) works to be shown in addition to for sale works.

    2. Size Restrictions: 2D/wall hanging artwork cannot exceed 72" on any side (including frame if applicable). 3D stand alone artwork must fit through a standard door and able to be easily lifted/moved by one or two people.

    3. Medium: No AI generated images. No bodily fluids. Art that has glitter or other loose mediums such as confetti, must be completely sealed in a manner that the glitter/confetti does not come off when handled.

    4. Hanging Hardware: All artwork must be dry and ready for hanging. We prefer wall hung artwork to be wired, as this gives us the most options for hanging. Sawtooth hangers, D-rings, key-holes, etc. are accepted when wiring will damage the artwork or frame. No loose paper. All paper must be mounted or framed.

    ***There are some occations where some of the hardware will be removed for best display.

    5. Labeling: All pieces should be labeled on the back with Artist’s Name & Title of the piece.

    6. Entry Fee: $15 CASH ONLY per accpeted piece. There is not an ATM close to the studio so plan accordingly.

    7. DROP-OFF: Accepted artwork needs to be delivered on Sunday, September 14th - 2:00-5:00pm or Monday, September 15th - 5:00-7:30pm

    8. PICK-UP All artwork MUST be claimed/picked up by: September 20th (End of Show) at 10:00 pm or Monday, September 22nd - 5:00-7:00 pm

    • Any art left behind after scheduled pick up times will be considered abandoned and done with as H&N Studios sees fit.

    • Curators reserve the right not to hang work that isn’t properly wired and/or does not meet the requirements as specified above.

  • If you experience issues with the form not submitting, please double check that all required fields are filled out and that your image files sizes are 2MB or less. The most common reason for the form error is because the file sizes are too large. You can reduce the size of your images by using an image resizer app or online tools.
