A big part of Strolling Thunder is writing a letter to your state legislators. Your responses to this form will be turned into a letter such as this one and hand-delivered to your legislators

Some ideas to consider:
- Your child(ren) in their stroller on a walk
- Your entire family
- A moment that brings you joy
- Your child(ren) learning and exploring their world
- Your child(ren) at their child care center or family child care learning home (please ensure no other kids are in the photo)
Feel free to provide a mix of both vertical and horizontal photos and make sure your lighting is balanced (not too bright and not too dark.) If you are having trouble uploading your photos, please feel free to email us (csanders@geears.org) your photos.

The Letter

A couple of things to note:
- PLEASE WRITE IN FULL SENTENCES in the boxes below
- We will address your letter "Senator X" or "Representative Y"
- The same language will be used for letters to both your state senator and your state representative
First Paragraph: Introduce yourself and your family, including where you live, where you work, and, if appropriate, where your child is in care.*
If your child has benefitted from participation in a particular program or initiative (e.g., Quality Rated child care, Head Start, Georgia's Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) scholarship, Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, Babies Can’t Wait, etc.), be sure to mention it here.
Second Paragraph: Share one of the biggest challenges you face as a parent of a young child (e.g., finding and affording child care, accessing health and other services for your young child(ren), meeting your family’s basic needs, etc.). Feel free to tell a story!*
Third Paragraph: Make an ask! See the below chart for examples. Describe your hopes/wishes for a community and state that support young children and their families. Be specific if you can. *
Closing Thoughts: Thank them for their time and consideration. Feel free to ask them to reach out to you and provide your contact information (otherwise we will not be providing this to them).
You will have the chance to deliver your letter to your state senator and state representative on Thursday, January 29th. Please indicate below if you are willing for GEEARS and our partners at ZERO TO THREE to deliver your letter to your U.S. Representative in Washington D.C. If you choose for your letter to be shared with your U.S. Representative, you can indicate whether your email address and phone number are included.
