  • Thank you for your interest in a Woodpeckeer Farm Working Scottish Collie!  Below you will find the reservation agreement and a questionaire to help us find you a perfect match!

Ivy has recently been bred by Henry (Brookwood Romany Love Vigilante) and pups were born March 26.  Puppies will be assessed and tested by Embark prior to 6 weeks.  At 6 weeks, buyer selection & placement will begin.  I will show you the pups that I believe will fit your criteria, starting with the first reservation that comes in and then working down the list.  Pups are scheduled to be picked up between May 26 (2-6 pm) or 27-29 between 10-2.

Henry is a laid back fellow who is very social.  He takes correction easily from other dogs, but loves to play when they're open to it.  While he himself hasn't got a lot of herding drive, his offspring have had good instinct and are quite biddable.  I anticipate that Henry's easy going demeanor will balance Ivy out and create some lovely pups with enough drive to help on a small family farm, but also responsive enough that most families will be able to easily manage them.

Ivy is a higher drive collie who enjoys working on the farm.  She loves sorting the chickens and ducks, and knows when they are places the ought not be and immediately sends them back to their coops.  She has been introduced to sheep here on the farm and expresses a keen interest in making them move.  She has been invaluable as a predator deterent, aware of danger before anyone else has noticed, and frightening off coyotes from inside the house before they've been able to snatch a chicken.

Ivy has been very competitive in the North American Sport Dog Association, qualifying for their National Competition in two categories last year as the top rough collie in the nation in her division.

Despite her higher energy levels in the field, Ivy transitions easily into the home when the day is done, walks nicely through city streets and stores, and has spent several days at horse shows and events without complaining.

Ivy is a carrier for MDR1, which means there is a 50% chance of pups also being carriers.  This is a condition that nearly all rough and smooth collies have, along with most herding breeds.  If you are unfamiliar, it is a drug resistance that is genetically inherited, but it is also managable as long as you're aware and make your veterinarian aware.  Certain drugs such as Ivermectin (in many forms) are to be avoided.  We actually avoid them even on dogs who are clear just to be safe.  All puppies will have been tested by Embark before leaving for home, but we cannot guarantee results will be back in time.

Registration: both Ivy and Henry are breeding certified through the Scottish Collie Preservation Society (SCPS).  Pups will will also be registered with SCPS, plus eligible for IABCA and ASDR registry.

Pricing:  Puppies are priced starting at $1550.  I offer pet contracts and breeding contracts, but this does not affect the cost of the puppy.  I offer a partial rebate for all pups who are spayed/neutered by 24 months provided they have not been bred.

    *spay neuter rebate is $200

Reservation Fee is $550. This fee is non-refundable.  A second payment of $600 is due at 6 weeks.  The final payment of $500 is due upon puppy pick up (total cost $1650).   Once puppies are 6 weeks old, the selection process will begin, with the first buyer who submitted their reservation, working down the list.  Every effort will be made to help you match up with the perfect pup for your situation.

Included with your Puppy:  All pups will be up to date on vaccinations, vet recommended dewormings, have a veterinary health exam, vaccination record, blanket/favorite toy from home, bag of food.  Puppies will have had genetic testing through Embark and microchipped.  Information on the genetic mutation MDR1, potty training and basic puppy training tips and links are also included in your package, along with support from us whenever you have questions or concerns.

Rehoming: If you are ever in a position where your dog must be rehomed, we ask that you contact us first.  You will be signing a contract stating that you will return the dog to us unless mutually agreed upon arrangements are otherwise made.  We are 100% dedicated to keeping our dogs out of shelter and rescue situations.

Shipping:  While we prefer if you can pick up your new puppy in person, we realize this isn’t always possible.  Ground shipping with a private induvial can be arranged and is the next best option.  Price is subject to what the driver/company charges.  Puppies can fly, but we prefer not to unless there is a nanny with the pup.  Again, this price is based on airline and nanny costs.  Should you prefer we set up transport for you, there is an additional fee of $150 for our time.
