Worship, Community, Outreach
When trying to describe our core DNA, we talk about Worship, Community and Outreach as the three things The Hub is built around. We are here to love God, love one another and love the world around us, and this shapes how we plan and do a whole range of activities as a student community. This includes how we try to get a good mix of interests and passions in the group of people who live here.
Our desire is that everyone gets involved in at least one thing whilst they live here, and equally everyone is served and supported to grow in at least one area or thing they are interested in. We are not looking for people who can do (or think they can do) everything. But the greater danger is thinking that you have nothing to offer. You can - and most likely, you already are. The bottom line is we are looking for people who are up for going on a journey and playing a small part in the big picture.
What are some of the areas people typically get involved in?
Worship - prayer ministry, prayer breakfasts, Worship 101, music, Growth Groups (small groups) and so on.
Community - pre-term week, student residential, social events, the annual formal, welcome nights for new students, making connections with other chaplaincies and societies...
Outreach - Alpha, other halls of residence, street outreach, foodbank, Christmas and Easter activities...
We want to hear what ideas this sparks for you; how you might engage; and what these words mean to you.
