Summary
Hamdi (9 years old) is the eldest of an Egyptian family recently settled in the Laurentians and has not spoken since their arrival in Canada. Zeynab, his mother, suspects a jinn to be the cause of his silence. She is convinced that they need to go back to Egypt to cure him. His father, Rachid, despises this hypothesis and forces Hamdi to speak, in vain. He believes rather in the promises of their future in their new home and firmly objects to the idea of returning.
The Worlds of Hamdi is a tragicomic invitation to embrace the unknown.
