  • Visiting Multiple Facilities on the Same or Back-to-Back Days

    If you would like to visit mulitple facilities, please contact the Education and Visitor Programs Specialist, Ashley, directly (aday@hollandbpw.com) and note the following:

    • Visits to multiple facilities must be requested a minimum of 1 month in advance
    • Total tour time can take between 3-5 hours
    • Facility tours are recommended for students taking advanced high school courses such as career and technical classes or AP Environmental Science
    • You must provide your own transportation between facilities
    • Capacity: 25 students

    Holland Energy Park is located at 1 Energy Park Way, Holland, MI 49423
  • Please read through the following safety requirements and restrictions:

    • Participants are required to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes
    • All other required PPE (hard hats, safety glasses) are provided
    • This tour is not ADA accessible
    • A tour guide system is used during this tour that requires participants to wear in-ear headphones. Tours may not be suitable for participants who use hearing aid devices or have cochlear implants
    • Due to presence of electromagnetic fields inside our facility, participants who utilize electronic medical devices such as pacemakers are not permitted on tours

  • Water Reclamation Facility

    The Water Reclamation Facility is located at 42 S. River Ave, Holland, MI 49423
  • Please read through the following safety requirements and restrictions:

    • Participants are required to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes
    • Safety glasses are provided
    • This tour is not ADA accessible and will require participants to climb stairs, walk, and stand for 45-60 minutes on paved, unpaved, grass, or uneven surfaces
    • For middle and high school students only: a tour guide system is used during this tour that requires participants to wear in-ear headphones. Tours may not be suitable for participants who use hearing aid devices or have cochlear implants

  • Water Treatment Plant

    The Water Treatment Plant is located at 46 N. Lakeshore Ave, Holland, MI 49424 across from Tunnel Park.
  • Please read through the following safety requirements and restrictions:

    • Participants should wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes
    • All other required PPE will be provided
    • This tour is not ADA accessible

  • Due to the limited space available at the Water Treatment Plant, Elementary field trips will take place mainly outdoors and are scheduled April-October (weather dependent).

  • Place-Based Learning Programs

    Holland Board of Public Works is proud to partner with teachers to create customized, PBL programs that support classroom learning. PBL programs include classroom visits paired with field trips to BPW facilities and can be customized to suit your needs! Please note that PBL programs are only available in Holland BPW's service territory.

  • Lending Library

    Teachers within the Holland Public School District are invited to request materials to use in their classrooms from the BPW Lending Library. Pick-up and drop-offs can take place any time Monday-Friday between 7:30am-4pm depending on staff availability.
