  • 2023-2024 Mr. and Miss NSU Pageant Application

  • Requirements – Applicants must meet the following requirements:

     1. Be at least a sophomore (completed a minimum of 30 semester hours)

    2. Be a full-time, matriculating student (minimum of 12 hours)

    3. Have been a full-time student completing a minimum of twelve (12) hours at Norfolk State University during the fall semester

    4. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and a minimum GPA of 2.50 the preceding semester, a grade of “I” (Incomplete) will not be accepted.

    5. Transfer students must have completed a minimum of 30 hours and have been enrolled the preceding semester as a full-time student completing a minimum of twelve (12) hours at Norfolk State University with an appropriate GPA, as stated in #4 above.

    All Grades will be subject to review. 

    6. The following offices must approve each contestant:


    • Dean of Students – For verification that the student is not on “disciplinary or probation sanctions.” All sanctions must be removed/ cleared prior to February 10, 2023.

    • Registrar - For verification of required GPA, classification, and semester hours
    • Office of Student Activities & Leadership -- For overall approval.


    • A contestant must not use or consume any illegal controlled dangerous substances or abuse the use of alcohol or other dangerous substances.
    • A contestant must abide by the NSU Student Code of Conduct.

    If selected to be Mr. or Miss NSU 2023-2024

    • Mr. & Miss NSU must be a Norfolk State University student, enrolled in twelve (12) credit hours each semester during the 2023-2024 academic year.
    • Mr. & Miss NSU must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA, and a most recent semester minimum 2.5 GPA completing a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours.
    • Mr. & Miss NSU must not use or consume any illegal controlled dangerous substances or abuse the use of alcohol or other dangerous substances.
    • Mr. & Miss NSU must abide by the NSU Student Code of Conduct.
    • If Mr. or Miss NSU does not adhere to the aforementioned requirements they will be removed from their position.
    • Mr. & Miss NSU contestant must be able to serve as a full-time student during the duration of the 2023-2024 academic year.

    Applications are due in the Office of Student Activities & Leadership no later than 6 pm on Friday, February 10, 2023. Applications submitted after that will not be accepted.

    Interviews & Talent Presentations: Will be on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Beginning at 4:00 pm. The Office of Student Activities & Leadership will contact you by email on Monday, February 13, 2023, regarding the Interview and Talent Presentation sign-up. Please plan to attend a Mandatory Meeting on February 21, 2023, at 4:00 pm

    • I have read and completed the application to the best of my knowledge. I have answered all the questions honestly and I understand that as a candidate as well as a student, I must represent myself with the utmost respect. I fully understand that pageant scores will not be disclosed. If I choose not to adhere by NSU Honor Code, I understand that I will be disqualified.
    • I hereby acknowledge that I have read the qualifications for Mr. and Miss NSU and agree to the terms of the above Honor Code.
    • I hereby authorize the Office of Student Activities & Leadership to request and receive the information needed from the Registrar as well as the Dean Of Students to complete the processing of this application.
    • I also understand that verification of earned credit hours, previous semester, and cumulative grade point average is required in order to participate.
    • I give permission to officials employed in the Offices of Communications and Marketing and/ Office of Student Activities & Leadership at Norfolk State University the full right to use my photograph(s) and/or videotaped image(s) and sound byte(s) in its recruitment, public relations, social media and promotional efforts. I willingly agreed to have my photograph.
