Hello! If you are here it means you must be interested in getting tattooed! Before we get to the details, I want to cover how I work and what you need to know going into us working together. It may be a lot of words but I promise it will make things go smooth!
The Almighty Waitlist
Currently, I’m working off a waiting list. Managing bookings beyond 2-3 months can complicate things, so this system helps me maintain a good rhythm. I’ve learned that spacing out projects, especially those requiring significant drawing, is essential for my quality of work and personal well-being.
Rest assured, if your project is on the list, I’m fully committed to it!
Unfortunately, I am not able to take on every request that I receive. If I can’t take yours on, I’ll do my best to recommend someone who might. I genuinely hate disappointing anyone, but my capacity is limited.
Projects I Want To Do
Something I say often is "If you like the work I do, you'll like the work I do." I try to focus on the things I do best so the work you see in my porfolio is consistent with the projects I take on. I will occasionally go outside of my typical styles but only when I connect with the theme or style.
I am extremely grateful that people look at the work I do and want to get tattooed by me. Sometimes that does mean that I get requests for work outside of what I find interesting or in styles I am not comfortable in.
Things that I do NOT take on:
- Any form of tribal
- Any type of color realism
- Human portraits
- Duplicating existing tattoos
- Trend tattoos (lions, pocket watches, tree silhouettes, etc)
I want to be invested in the work I do so I've found that projects that excite and challenge me are where my best work happens. Additionally, I gravitate towards working with clients that give me a lot of creative freedom to explore their idea.
That said, there are plenty of themes that I really enjoy working with and have a very good chance of being taken on.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of things I think are pretty rad:
- Skulls: The weirder the better! Human, animal, I love them all!
- Nature Projects: Plants, flora, fungus, animals, birds, etc.
- Weird Animals: Mutants, mash-ups, zombies, cryptids, etc.
- Death Imagery: Reapers, the undead, symbolism, etc
- Dungeons & Dragons: Creatures, spells, and items.
- Japanese Inspired: dragons, koi, yokai [spirits / creatures] floral, etc
- Bio-organic / Monster-mech: biomech styles focusing on organic shapes (not cogs, gears, pistons) and monster-mech means lots of eyeballs and teeth!
- Darker / Creepier Black and Grey
- New School / Cartoony
- Anime, Cartoon, Comic Book Projects
I’m always open to adventurous ideas, so if you have something unique, let’s chat!
Consultations
The first step in this process will be a consultation. In the past, I have strictly done in-person consultations but I am open to video or phone consultations for clients where a consult is not practical (if you live a couple hours away, for example). For some projects, email may be enough to get things rolling.
If you live within a reasonable distance, I do ask and prefer that these be in person consultations in order to take tracings, photos, etc. These should take 30-60 minutes.
Rates, Sessions, & Booking
Full-day sessions ($1200) – Approximately 6-8 hours of tattooing time. We will have time for breaks (if needed/wanted), lunch will be offered, and should generally give us a chance to both get plenty of work done and also interact freely.
Half-day sessions ($700) – Approximately 3-4 hours of tattooing time, will be a bit more focused. The goal will be to get as much done while having less freedom for breaks/interaction. More flexibility for starting time and additional set-up time will be reserved to get the most work done.
My hourly rate for all other work will be $175/hr
For those of your traveling in and wanting to get the most amount of work done in a single trip, I am also open to doing back-to-back days (2 day max).
For clients concerned about sitting for a full-day, most people are definitely able to sit a lot longer than they think. With a little teamwork, we can do it! :) However, if you attempt your first all-day session and it just isn't doable, we will adjust the price and reduce future appointments to half-day.
My goal is to be as fair as possible to my clients so, if for some reason I don't feel I completed enough work during our session, I will adjust the day rate accordingly.
For large-scale work, we will book regular appointments every 4-8 weeks until completion. If you are traveling in, we do our best to accommodate a more flexible schedule.
Booking Fees
All appointments require a non-refundable booking fee that goes towards the cost of your tattoo. For multi-session pieces, it will apply to the last session. Booking fees will be $100-500 depending on the size of your project and will be taken after your consultation. This amount is applied to the final session of your project.
Booking fees can be forfeited for the following reasons:
- No call / no show to appointment.
- Canceling / rescheduling with less than 72 hour notice.
- Canceling without rebooking.
- Rescheduling excessively.
- Being significantly late to an appointment.
- Making changes to the scope or subject of a project without prior discussion.
Any exception to these policies is at my discretion but I’ll do my best to accommodate situations beyond your control such as illness, emergencies and the like. I am a pretty understanding person so please trust that we can figure out most things with communication.
Clients that cancel / no-show repeatedly may be dropped entirely. This is a worst-case scenario but I cannot prioritize work that a client refuses to.
Artwork For Your Tattoo
A lot of time and effort goes into every project and, during my career, I've found that I do tend to work in certain ways.
One part of this is that I do not send out drawings prior to your appointment. All artwork is done for the day of the appointment and sometimes includes drawing on some parts. I know that this requires a lot of trust but I have found this to be the best way for me to come up with the best artwork I can.
If you don't love the artwork I've come up with, then we will reschedule and have have another consultation while you are there. I want everyone to be happy with the work they receive and, on rare occasions I may miss the mark. Please be honest and do not worry about upsetting me or hurting my feelings. Sometimes there are aspects of a design that I may ask for your trust but if, overall, you aren't love it, then let's figure it out!
Your Appointment
When the big day arrives, there are always ways to make it go smoother! I recommend that all clients arrive well-slept, well-hydrated, a meal in your stomach, in comfortable clothes, and ready for the day.
I encourage clients to bring some form of distraction / entertainment such as books, audiobooks/music, handheld games (if able to be used) and any other creature comforts such as a pillow or blanket. Snacks and drinks are recommended as well. We are right next to a gas station and we do have things like water, snacks, and coffee available in case you forgot your own.
I try to let everyone know upfront that I have a case of that ADHD so sometimes I might be more talkative but some days, I need to just stay more quiet and keep the squirrel in my brain on a short leash. If it is one of those days, then having something to focus on helps a lot.
If you are going to watch movies or listen to music/books, please bring headphones / ear buds.
Wrapping Up!
If you made it this far, thank you so much. I know that you could have chosen anyone to be your artist and I am honored that you have chosen me. On the next page, we will collect the necessary info about your idea and I will get back to you as soon as I am able to let you know if it is something I can take on and add to the waiting list.
If it all works out, then I look forward to working with you!
