The City of Redwood City is seeking applicants to serve on several Boards, Commissions, and Committees (BCCs). It is the desire of the City Council that all Boards, Commissions, and Committees reflect the diversity of the community, and all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. Following the close of the application period, the City Council will hold interviews during a Special Meeting for the Police advisory Committee and appointments will be made by the City Council at the June 26 City Council meeting. The Planning Commission will hold interviews and appointments for the Architectural Advisory Committee at a date to be determined.

Per the Redwood City Municipal Code, the following eligibility criteria must be met in order to serve:

Architectural Advisory Committee: Must be at least 18 years of age, live or work in the City of Redwood City, and be a licensed architect or landscape architect.

Historic Resources Advisory Committee: Must be at least 18 years of age, at least four members must be residents of the City of Redwood City, and all members must be associated with such professions, disciplines, or interests such as:

Members of the Redwood City Heritage Association or other preservation related organizations, architects or design professionals (no license required), structural engineers, urban planners or landscape architects, attorneys or real estate experts, educators with background in history, members of community groups or residents within historic districts, occupants of historic landmarks or owners of historic sites, or residents with a demonstrated interest in Redwood City historic preservation.

Police Advisory Committee: Must be at least 16 years of age and be a resident of Redwood City or be employed in Redwood City at the time of appointment for the duration of their appointment.

All applications shall provide proof of employment if not residents of the City of Redwood City.

The Political Reform Act of 1974 requires all government agencies to adopt a Conflict of Interest Code which designates the positions within an agency which make or participate in making governmental decisions which may foreseeably have a material effect on any financial interest. Members of Redwood City Boards, Committees and Commissions, by virtue of their positions, make or participate in making decisions which may affect their financial interests and who therefore must disclose these interests on the Fair Political Practices Commission Form 700 – Statement of Economic Interests of Designated Employees. The Form 700 is a public document and its contents will be disclosed upon request. This form is to be filed every year with the Office of the City Clerk on April 1.

Appointed Boards, Commission and Committee members are required to complete a 2-hour free Ethics training every two years.
