Childhood First relies on the income generated through major fundraising events such as the London Marathon to fund the expansion and development of our services and build new homes with donations/fundraising. London Marathon charity places are provided to us at a cost, and we therefore ask all runners who accept a Childhood First place to commit to a minimum fundraising target.
If offered a place:
- You commit to raising a minimum of £2500, excluding Gift Aid and/or matched funding.
- IMPORTANT: It is understood that if you fail to raise the minimum sponsorship detailed, you will be required to submit the shortfall.
- 50% of this target (£1250) should be raised by no later than 10th December 2027. Failure to do so could result in your place being withdrawn.
- You agree to pay a £100 deposit fee per runner to Childhood First no later than 14 days after your application has been accepted. This will contribute to your overall target detailed above.
- Once this payment has been processed, you will receive your unique online link to officially complete your entry to the London Marathon. Failure to make payment of the registration fee and/or complete the official online entry will result in your place being void unless you have agreed otherwise with Childhood First.
- You are required to comply with the Terms and Conditions as set by the TCS London Marathon. These will be sent to you by the event organisers and include the obligations and liabilities that you have towards each other.
- Payment deadline for sponsorship is due six weeks after the TCS London Marathon.
- You agree to actively fundraise throughout the period leading up to the event and will work with Childhood First to achieve the minimum target.
- You agree to create and maintain an online fundraising page and to respond to reasonable communications from the Childhood First fundraising team regarding your fundraising progress.
- You confirm that you are 18 years of age (or over) and that the information provided in your application is accurate.
- You understand that if you do not respond to repeated attempts to contact you regarding any concerns about your fundraising progress or participation in the event, Childhood First reserves the right to review your place and, where appropriate, withdraw or reallocate your charity place.
- If you cancel your place because you have gained your own place in the TCS London Marathon Ballot please notify Childhood First as soon as possible.
- If you decide not to run the TCS London Marathon – or decide to run for another charity – please inform Childhood First as soon as possible. Your registration fee will be retained.
- We review any requests to defer a Gold Bond place on an individual basis. All requests must be made in writing, in order for them to be reviewed and no requests are guaranteed.
- You agree to be regularly in touch with the Childhood First Fundraising team and that images taken on the day of the Marathon may be published by Childhood First in the future.
