• March 24-26: “Prophets & Sages: Transforming Tradition” with Kendra Watkins

A weekend of accessible & empowering Talmud study at T’chiyah
  • Kendra will utilize the SVARA method of Talmud study, empowering participants with tools to work through an accessible and compelling sugya (unit of Talmud) in the original Aramaic! No prior experience with Talmud study is needed, but being able to read the alef bet (Hebrew alphabet) is necessary. Students should plan to participate for the whole weekend. Ta shma - “come and learn” - what our tradition has to say about prophets and sages!

    SCHEDULE:

    · Friday, March 24: Shabbat Potluck & "(Re)Approaching The Talmud" [Intro to the SVARA Method] (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM)

    · Saturday, March 25: Talmud Study Session Part 1 (1:30 - 5:30 PM)

    · Sunday, March 26: Bagel Brunch & Study Session Part 2 (11 AM - 4 PM)

    TUITION INFORMATION:

Tuition for this weekend is sliding scale, $18 - $72. The actual cost of participation is $36. We encourage those with the means to do so to contribute more to support our instructor and hosting synagogue, Congregation T'chiyah.

Your tuition covers a masechet of Talmud to take home, snacks throughout the weekend, and a Bagel Brunch on Sunday. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. To learn more, contact Jake at Jake@Tchiyah.org.
