The Clockhouse Writers’ Conference & Retreat (CWC&R) is an annual writers’ event for graduates of the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Goddard College.

In 2022, we adopted a hybrid format, allowing MFAW graduates who live far away or cannot travel to join us virtually.

Note: You must have graduated from Goddard College’s MFAW program (either VT or WA) prior to April, 2023, in order to register and attend.

- The non-refundable conference fee is $100, whether you attend in-person or virtually.
- To reserve your space, this registration form and fee must be received by June 15, 2023.

On campus housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Single rooms are limited.

Room & board costs

Due to the rising cost of food, Goddard College has needed to increase the costs of meals. Fortunately, there is also more flexibility than past years in the number of meals that on-campus attendees must purchase.

Housing costs have remained the same, as has the required 9% Vermont Rooms and Meals tax. This tax is included in all amounts listed below.

For CWC&R 2023:

- All dorm accommodations must include a 7-meal plan (3 dinners, 3 lunches, 1 breakfast) = $171.

- Off-campus attendees must purchase a 4-meal plan (for use at any meal) = $97.

- Additional meals can be purchased from the help desk.

Also, at no extra charge:

- CWC will host one night’s dinner off campus.

- CWC will provide a light lunch on Monday (arrival) and Friday (departure).
About Single Rooms

There are a limited number of single's available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like a single, please be sure to check the Single Room and Board rate box in the costs area on the next page.

We will let you know within a week if a single is available and has been reserved. If no singles are available, we'll let you know within a week, and adjust your fees to reflect your choice to stay on campus in a double, or off campus.

- All participants must pay the registration fee.

- All on-campus participants must check either single or double room.

- All in-person, off-campus participants must purchase a 4-meal pass to be used at any meal.

To secure your spot at the conference, you only need to pay the registration fee by the June 15 registration deadline.

Room and meals costs can be paid up to and including check-in on the first day of CWC&R.

Payment options

The directions below will also appear in the post-submission notice, and the confirmation letter from the registrar.

To be registered for the conference, we must recieve at least the registration fee by June 15, 2023. You may pay any balance anytime up to and including check-in.
