NOTE: Scholarship funds will be awarded to the student's institution upon evidence of registration in classes. You must provide your student identification number and correct mailing address and phone number of the school's Bursar's Office.
Purpose: To provide scholarships to one or more deserving African American or other minority, male, Chester Upland School District senior(s) intending to pursue higher education and who exemplifies the drive, commitment, determination to succeed, and school spirit embodied by the Clifford Stevens Scholarship Foundation's members. Award Components: 1. Scholarships of $500 - $5,000 are awarded to one or more graduating seniors attending a college/university or other post-secondary educational institution. 2. The scholarships will be awarded depending on the funds generated for distribution each year. 3. The Clifford Stevens Scholarship is guaranteed for one year. 4. If selected, you will be required to attend an acknowledgement video conference with the Board of Directors and a Presentation Reception on June 25, 2023.
1. Applicant must be an African American or other minority, male, Chester Upland School District senior. 2. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or better. 3. Applicant must be highly motivated and have demonstrated the capacity to excel. We will consider employment, after-school activities, and involvement in the community and school, with an emphasis on contribution as opposed to the number of activities. 4.Applicant must have the potential for academic achievement, exhibit quantifiable leadership skills, and demonstrate an actual financial need or otherwise financial hardship pursuing higher education. Application Process: Applicant must submit the following items: 1. Completed application form (if hand-written, please print legibly) 2. One letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, administrator, counselor, employer, and/or individuals with significant knowledge of applicant's experience and involvement. 3. An official and recent high school transcript with cumulative grade point average, ACT and/or SAT scores, and a class standing/rank. 4. Personal essay (350 words or fewer 5. Possible oral interview with a Scholarship Committee member if you are selected as a finalist.
