Practice Support: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practices recommended to help you and the team get to know each other better

• Assist with wheelchair transfers when needed, assist into/out of car/building, scorekeeping, timing, counters, safe recovery from falls   
• Knowledge of the rules of the sport you are working is helpful, but not required
• Assist with footplate guards, drill setup, shag balls, other tasks as needed

GOALBALL INFORMATION

• Assist with wheelchair transfers when needed, assist into/out of car/building, scorekeeping, timing, counters, safe recovery from falls   
• Knowledge of the rules of the sport you are working is helpful, but not required
• Assist with court setup/breakdown (taping and removing strings), shag balls, other tasks as coach needs

SLED HOCKEY INFORMATION

Regular Season runs SEPTEMBER - APRIL

Practice Support: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practices recommended to help you and the team get to know each other better

• Assist with wheelchair transfers when needed, assist into/out of car/building, scorekeeping, timing, counters, safe recovery from falls   
• Knowledge of the rules of the sport you are working is helpful, but not required
• On-ice positions: skill specific help (puck control, skating, passing, safe hits/stopping), officiating, drill setup, other tasks as coach needs.       
• Off-ice positions: assist in equipment fitting, assist sleds onto ice, other roles as team manager needs.

WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL INFORMATION

Practice Support: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practices recommended to help you and the team get to know each other better

• Assist with wheelchair transfers when needed, assist into/out of car/building, scorekeeping, timing, counters, safe recovery from falls   
• Knowledge of the rules of the sport you are working is helpful, but not required
• Rebounders, basic skills help (chair work, ball handling, shooting), skill specific help (defense, offense, shooting, ball handling), advanced skills.

Head/Assistant Coach: Serve as role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practices and tournaments

• Strong leadership skills – understands key motivational tactics and has a team-first mindset
• Have previous experience with coaching sports or athletes with disabilities. Sport knowledge is a plus and adaptive sport knowledge is a major plus!
• In any given week this role may require anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours a week during the season, and 6 hours per away tournament weekend. 
• The head coach role is considered a volunteer leadership opportunity and requires transparent communication & regular reporting to the program director, and occasional meetings with board members. 

Team Manager: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; Consistent presence at practices and tournaments highly recommended to help you and the team get to know each other better

• Regular team communications via email or other agreed upon social media venues
• In charge of team and athlete registrations, tournament registration/coordination and travel planning
• Assistance with practice set-up and occasional film help may be asked by your sport coach.
• Coordination of practice space and timing in cooperation with SAS admins
• Other tasks as assigned by the head coach of your sport

Team Equipment Manager: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practices and tournaments highly recommended

• Regular inspection and maintenance of loaner equipment for your team
• In charge of equipment repairs and maintenance for your team
• Assist athletes with getting their equipment ready for practice or competition if needed
• Assistance with practice set-up may be asked by your sport coach
• Other tasks as assigned by the team manager or head coach of your sport

Team Clinician: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practice and tournaments highly recommended

• Team safety role; person in charge for emergencies; delegate call and control roles
• In charge of injury prevention and treatment for your team
• Maintain and protect emergency medical info for your team
• Maintain first aid kit and supplies including all blood borne pathogen protective
equipment

Community Outreach: Helping spread the word about and engagement with Seattle Adaptive Sports throughout our broader community. Duties may include:

• Planning outreach events
  • Sport Clinics
  • Paralympic Sports Days
  • Working with volunteer coordinator to determine volunteer needs
• Community Awareness: 
  • Social Media content/story collection
  • Promotion of upcoming events
• Identifying partner organizations

Grant Writing: Working alonside SAS Admins to write compelling grant applications to continue to support our athletes on their sport journeys. Duties may include:

• Finding and applying for applicable grants
• Tracking grant progress in a google drive
• Providing monthly grant updates at board meetings

Sponsorship & Fundraising: Work alongside SAS Admins and reps of each sport to ensure that Seattle Adaptive Sports continues to receive the funding necessary to support our athletes in their endeavors. Duties may include:

• Helping create and execute sponsorship strategies
• Proposing and following up with fundraising opportunities

Gala Planning: working with other committee members to host our annual Seattle Adaptive Sports gala. Duties may include:

• Planning annual gala fundraiser
  • Deciding gala theme
  • Securing location, catering, other logistics
  • Compiling stories/activities/order of events
• Executing annual gala fundraiser
  • Working with volunteer coordinator to determine volunteer needs
  • Event Set up and Take Down
• Report back to board with monthly progress updates and trouble shooting

Finance, Audit & Risk: working with SAS Admins to ensure the legitimacy of Seattle Adaptive Sport day to day functions. Duties may include:

• Maintaining the SAS Budget
  • Approving expenses
  • Delegating grant funds
• Contract work
• Risk Assessment
