Summer 2023 season: Saturdays, 10am - 12 pm, MAY - AUGUST
Head/Assistant Coach: Serve as role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practices and tournaments• Strong leadership skills – understands key motivational tactics and has a team-first mindset• Have previous experience with coaching sports or athletes with disabilities. Sport knowledge is a plus and adaptive sport knowledge is a major plus!• In any given week this role may require anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours a week during the season, and 6 hours per away tournament weekend. • The head coach role is considered a volunteer leadership opportunity and requires transparent communication & regular reporting to the program director, and occasional meetings with board members.
Team Manager: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; Consistent presence at practices and tournaments highly recommended to help you and the team get to know each other better
• Regular team communications via email or other agreed upon social media venues• In charge of team and athlete registrations, tournament registration/coordination and travel planning• Assistance with practice set-up and occasional film help may be asked by your sport coach.• Coordination of practice space and timing in cooperation with SAS admins• Other tasks as assigned by the head coach of your sport
Team Equipment Manager: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practices and tournaments highly recommended
• Regular inspection and maintenance of loaner equipment for your team• In charge of equipment repairs and maintenance for your team• Assist athletes with getting their equipment ready for practice or competition if needed• Assistance with practice set-up may be asked by your sport coach• Other tasks as assigned by the team manager or head coach of your sport
Team Clinician: Serve as a role model to SAS athletes and other volunteers; consistent presence at practice and tournaments highly recommended
• Team safety role; person in charge for emergencies; delegate call and control roles• In charge of injury prevention and treatment for your team• Maintain and protect emergency medical info for your team• Maintain first aid kit and supplies including all blood borne pathogen protectiveequipment
Registration: Help participants (including officials and volunteers) with registration or signing in. Make sure waivers have been signed before engaging with the activity.
Coach Helper: If you have experience in a a sport, you can be paired with a coach to help lead drills/organize court spaces for demos.
Equipment Management: Equipment loading/unloading, getting athletes into and out of equipment, maintenance/mechanical knowledge for making last minute adjustments/repairs, organize equipment storage areas.
Lunch/Snack Table: Setup and breakdown, ensure food/snacks are easy to access, help cleaning any dirty dishes.
Scorer: run scoring systems/shot clocks, keep game stats on score sheet
General setup/take down/event floater: help setup and breakdown the event, help in any miscellaneous areas as needed throughout the course of the event
First aid: manage first aid table, assist with any injuries that may occur during the event
Planning: Help securing space, making players and other marketing materials/distribution of them, promoting the event to athletes, coaches, organizing committees, volunteers, designing and securing event swag, other tasks related to putting on an excellent event!
Fundraising: Work alongside SAS Admins and reps of each sport to plan and execute fundraising drives. Be a part of the annual fundraiser planning committee and working with teams to but on smaller fundraisers directly to benefit them. Assistance with grant writing, sponsor and donor relationships, and accounting/budgeting.
PR/Marketing/Graphic Design: Collaborate with SAS admins, create flyers, banners, brochures, other marketing tools. Represent the organization in communications with outside organziations, donors, grand giving foundations.
Socia Media/Website: updating social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, others) and maintain/update SAS website to ensure professional look while upholding accessibility standards.
Community Outreach: planning for outreach events, receiving new members in the organization, assist with projects to increase awarness and exposure of adaptive sports in the community.
Office Support: assisting with accounting, organizing meetings and virtual meets, help with day to day projects, maintain communication with teams as well as strategic partners/stakeholders.
