• CIT Application 2023

    Mountain Friends Camp, Summer 2023
  • CIT/KIT Applicant please complete this form. Parent/Guardian should review, and add electronic signanature before submitting.

The mission of Mountain Friends Camp is to provide a camp experience grounded in the Quaker values of peace, community, simplicity, integrity, equality and stewardship for a diverse community of young people and adults. At camp we focus on community, nature, creativity and Quaker values.
Are you are at least 16 and entering 11th grade in the fall, enjoy camp activities and the simple life and want to make camp extra special and rewarding for campers? Consider applying to serve as a Counselor in Training! You’ll have a good deal more responsibility than you did as a camper, but there will always be an adult staff member on hand to offer advice and provide support. Counselors in Training (CIT) will have special leadership training meetings during our staff training and will meet with an adult staff mentor before and during camp to talk about goals, challenges and your individual experience. You'll have a lot of fun at camp, and a lot will be expected of you. A CIT is first and foremost a role model and leader. In addition to taking turns leading scheduled activities, chores, and assisting adult staff, your work will be connecting with campers, supporting them as they build community and grow, helping to mediate conflicts, encourage participation and set a positive tone during activities.

For teens who are interested in a “kitchen in training” (KIT) position, you’re role will be a combination of CIT and Kitchen staff duties. You will be assigned to a camper cabin/yurt group and asked to serve as a role model and leader. Every day you’ll help with 1-2 meals and clean up, learning valuable commercial kitchen and teamwork skills, as well as participate or help lead certain activities with campers. Kitchen in Training roles can be for 2-4 weeks, depending upon availability and needs.

The CIT/KIT program is a free leadership training program for our 16-17 year old campers, participants are not employees or staff of Mountain Friends Camp.Thank you in advance for your energy, creativity and service!
