Contract & Waivers

Please read and understand everything stated below to the fullest extent. Signature required for each section and your signature affirms understanding and compliance of everything stated below.
General Policy
1. Melissa's Happy Dogs will strive to create as safe of an environment as possible for the training and boarding of your dog(s) identified above (your dog), and will offer only sound, safe, and responsible training, boarding, care, and post-training instructions.
2. Owner agrees, however, that all animals may exhibit unpredictable behaviors and that Melissa's Happy Dogs will not be liable for the actions of your dog that are outside of the control of Melissa's Happy Dogs.
3. Owner agrees that recommendations by Melissa's Happy Dogs of any product or service is not a guarantee of performance or Owner's satisfaction with that product or service.
4. Melissa's Happy Dogs agrees to indemnify and hold Owner harmless from, and against, any claims of injury, expense, costs, loss, or damage caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Melissa's Happy Dogs while your dog is in the sole custody, care, and control of Melissa's Happy Dogs.
5. Owner acknowledges that Melissa's Happy Dogs has no control over your dog when your dog is not in the exclusive custody, care, and control of Melissa's Happy Dogs and Owner agrees to indemnify and hold Melissa's Happy Dogs harmless from, and against, any and all claims of injury, expense, cost, loss, or damaged caused by the actions of your dog when your dog is not in the sole custody, care, and control of Melissa's Happy Dogs.
6. Owner acknowledges and agrees that owning any animal, including your dog, has inherent risks including but not limited to the risk of animal bites to the Owner.
7. Owner acknowledges that potty training is not part of the curriculum at Melissa's Happy Dogs; although everything your dog has learned during his/her camp will set you up for success at home.
8. Owner fully understands that Melissa's Happy Dogs uses a balanced training method; positive and negative reinforcements, positive and negative punishment.
9. Owner has a basic understanding of the tools and techniques that are used to train and modify the behavior of your dog and agrees to the use of tools and techniques which may include, but not limited to, E-Collar, Prong Collar, Bark Collar, Slip Lead, Pet Corrector Spray, Muzzle, Flat Buckle Collar, Martingale Collar.

Health & Wellness Policy
1. Owner fully understands their dog must quarantine at home for 2 weeks prior to the start date of their dog's training. Quarantine is defined as no visits or stays at boarding or daycare facilities, grooming facilities, dog parks, and/or veterinary facilities.
2. Owners agree to avoid their dog's contact with other dogs not from the same household during the 2 week quarantine period prior to training.
3. Owner agrees to inform Melissa's Happy Dogs of any and all visits to said facilities, contact with other dogs, or changes in health within the 2 week quarantine period prior to the start of training.
4. Owner acknowledges the risks associated with a board & train facility (risk of exposure to kennel cough, upper respiratory infections, or other canine contagious diseases).
5. Owner fully understands and agrees that his/her dog will be neutered if over 8 months old at start of training (male) or his/her dog will not be in active heat if over 8 months at time of training (female).
6. Owner agrees that if he/she will neuter/spay prior to training there will be at least 2 weeks recovery between neuter/spay and start of training.
7. Melissa's Happy Dogs agrees to inform you of any changes to your dogs health during their board and train camp.
8. Owner acknowledges that failure to adhere to this policy will result in declination of services, loss of reservation, and loss of deposit without possibility of rebooking designated camp.

Booking and Payment Policy
1. In order to reserve your dog's spot in their respective camp program you must pay 50% of the total cost within 48 hours of initial contact. Payment options will be outlined in an email and all deposits are non-refundable.
2. We will contact you with available camp dates in approximately 7-10 business days. It is imperative that you set those dates/times in your calendar and arrive on time. Drop-offs occur on Day 1 anytime between the hours of 08:00am and 10:00am ONLY. Pick-up sessions are available at either 09:30am, 11:30am, or 2:00pm on the last day of camp.
3. Owner is responsible for requesting a preferred pick-up time as early as possible. In the event your requested pick-up time is not available we will assign you a pick-up time based on the available session. If no request or confirmation of pick-up session is made, we will assign you a pick-up time at drop-off.

Photo/Video Release Agreement
1. I hereby assign and grant to Melissa's Happy Dogs the right and permission to use, reproduce, distribute, and publish the photograph(s), film(s), videotape(s), audio and video recording(s), electronic representation(s), and/or sound recording(s) made of me and/or my dog(s) at any time during the training and/or boarding of my dog(s) at Melissa's Happy Dogs And I hereby release Melissa's Happy Dogs from any and all liability resulting from such use, reproduction, distribution, and publication.
2. I hereby authorize the reproduction, sale, distribution, copyright, exhibit, broadcast, and/or electronic storage of any and all photograph(s), film(s), videotape(s), audio and video recording(s), electronic representation(s), and/or sound recording(s) without limitation at the discretion of Melissa's Happy Dogs and I specifically waive any right to compensation I may have for any of the foregoing.

Drop-off/Pick-up Agreement
1. All dogs will be dropped of and picked up by the client unless other arrangements have been made and communicated with Melissa's Happy Dogs.
2. All camps include (1) 1.5 hour pick-up session that includes education, hands-on training, and post training instructions.
3. All drop-offs will occur between 08:00 AM and 10:00 AM on Day 1.
4. All pick-ups will occur on the last day of camp and are strictly scheduled. The 1.5 hour pick-up sessions will occur at 09:30 AM, 11:30 AM, or 2:00 PM; OWNER MUST BE PRESENT FOR PICK-UP SESSION. Failure to arrive on time for your scheduled pick-up session will cut into your allotted 1.5 hour session. Missing your pick-up session entirely will result in forfeiture of session; Staff will simply hand-off the dog to Owner upon arrival. Pick-up sessions CAN NOT be rescheduled for a later date or time.
5. When bringing your dog for a camp, all we need is your dog's food, training treats, and any medication your dog needs (i.e. flea/tick, heartworm, allergy) while your dog is with us. DO NOT BRING ANY BEDDING, BOWLS, BONES, OR TOYS!
6. When dropping off your dog at our facility, you will need to stick to the drop-off window stated above. We are a working facility so the staff is busy training dogs outside of the prescribed drop-off window.
7. Upon arrival, your dog must be on a leash/collar setup from which they cannot slip out of when transitioning from your vehicle to our facility and during the hand-off with our staff member (your dog may be nervous, scared, or excited and any of those things can lead to your dog escaping the leash/collar and running off or around our property which is a safety issue for your dog, the staff, and other Owners/dogs on the property).
8. Ensure you and your dog maintain a safe distance from other Owners and dogs that may be here simultaneously for drop-off. DO NOT allow your dog to interact with other Owners/dogs.
9. We do not allow non-employees past the client room at our facility as we have numerous dogs with varying issues and would create an unsafe environment for all dogs, staff, and yourself.
10. Prior to pick-up, all owners are required to watch the "Going Home" video for education and familiarization.

Physical Activity Agreement
1. Your dog will be staying at a working facility and not living in a padded room or at a resort. Your dog will spend a good amount of time outside, doing lots of things around natural objects, dirt, grass, cement, trees, fencing, bushes, pools, and interacting with other dogs and humans. It is likely that your dog may be scratched, bumped, and/or bruised. Your dog will most likely have some wear and tear on him/her and will require a bath upon arriving home.
2. Your dog will be kenneled in a climate controlled kennel room, fed twice daily, and have constant access to water. Your dog will be treated as one of our own during his board & train camp.
3. As the Owner, you acknowledge and understand that there are certain risks associated with training, boarding, and care. You release, indemnify, and agree to hold Melissa's Happy Dogs harmless from any and all manner of damages, claims, loss, liabilities, costs and expenses, causes of actions or suits, whatsoever in law or equity (i.e. attorney fees and related costs) arising out of or related to sevices provided by Melissa's Happy Dogs.
