I live in southern NH and hold a NH teaching license. I have worked in various educational & childcare settings for the past 10 years. This has included nature settings, charter, Quaker schools and more. I am a proponent of free play, hands-on learning and spending time in nature. I love spending time outside with my husband and children learning from the natural world around us.

Home education provides a wonderful opportunity for children to learn, educate, and grow.  Each family's experience ranges from one to the next, as does the contents of their portfolio.  It is important portfolios are a good representation of documentation of the child's year of learning and growth.  I do best when portfolios includes work from all parts (early, mid, end) of the year to help document the entire year to show the progress the child has made in each subject. Remember documentation can range in a wide range of forms in the portfolio. This could be physical and/or digital and include, but is not limited to: pictures of projects, tests, write-ups/photos of trips, written work, and so much more. A book/reading list is required with the portfolio. The GSHE website (https://granitestatehomeeducators.org/testing-evaluations/portfolios/) has more ideas and information on portfolios. It is a very useful resource.

I review portfolios in the Monadnock Region and Hillsborough County.

In person: We will schedule a time at an agreed upon location. The family will bring the portfolio to share the work of the past school year. I prefer the child to join in the conversation and help share their year.  This is their education and I believe they should be involved in this process. Though the choice is ultimately up to the family. After we all meet I will do a write-up and mail (and or email) it to you in 5-7 business days. Online: Similar to in person but we meet via zoom. Please send/allow me access to the portfolio one week in advance to help ensure I will have access to the materials for our meeting.
