University Recreation Youth Summer Camp is a half-day summer camp for kids ages 7-12 that takes place Monday-Friday 7:30 am-12:15 pm. It is focused around recreational play, not skill development.
To work as a summer camp counselor, you MUST be available for training and to work all three sessions:
- Training: May 27-29
- Session 1: June 1-12
- Session 2: June 15-26
- Session 3: July 6-17
Pay for the Summer Camp Position is: $11/hr
Counselor Expectations:
- Be a contributing member of a staff of 18-20 counselors/instructors
- Create and facilitate positive group interaction
- Interact with and lead a group of 25-35 campers
- Provide first aid/health care when necessary
- Provide Structure to the camper(s) when necessary
- Provide high energy each day of camp
- Be ready and able to participate in a high degree of physical activity
- Available May 27th - July 17th, 7:30 am-12:15 pm
- Have FUN and enjoy camp
Typical Day of Camp
7:30 - Staff on duty, drop-off for campers
8:00 - Swim Lessons start at the Leisure Pool, Staff Meeting, Camp Set-up
8:45 - Campers change into attire for camp
9:00 - 1st set of activity rotations
10:15 - Snack Time – All groups are together
10:30 - 2nd set of activity rotations
11:55 - Head outside for campers to be picked up
12:15 - Camp Ends/Staff Dismissed when the last camper is picked up
