  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Application

  • The Edmonton Humane Society's (EHS) Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program is offered during the warmer months to spay/neuter feral cats found outside city limits (within 200 km (two hours) of Edmonton) who are healthy.

    We have a limited number of appointments available per week and TNR surgeries are only scheduled on Thursdays. To apply for the program, please complete the following form and a team member will normally be in contact within 3-4 business days to discuss availablility.  

  • TNR Program Eligibility

  • Cats must be considered feral to be eligible for this program. 

    A feral cat has little to no contact with humans or their contact has decreased over time. They are fearful of people and survive on their own outdoors. They will not approach people and will likely seek hiding places to avoid humans.

    Common feral cat body language includes:

    • Avoidant of eye contact
    • Preference for hiding or making themselves small by crouching and staying low to the ground
    • Protect the body with their tail
    • No vocalization (i.e. does not meow or purr)

    If you are looking for spay/neuter services for a non-feral (house) cat please consider applying for our PALS (Prevent Another Litter Subsidy) program or contact your local veterinarian to complete the surgery.

    • If cats are ineligible, surgery will not be performed.
    • Appointments are scheduled on Thursdays.
    • There is no fee for the program, however, donations are greatly appreciated to help cover the surgery costs.  
    • You will be required to complete a pre-surgery consent form prior to surgery.
