What we can fund?
Applications must primarily benefit residents of the Invercargill City Council district.
Applications must involve sport, active recreation or play, or result in reduced barriers, increased opportunities, or improved quality of experiences for Invercargill residents to participate in sport, active recreation and play.
The following priorities have been identified for the 2024/2025 financial year:
- Programme delivery– Costs involved in delivering new or expanded opportunities for sport, active recreation and play initiatives. Includes costs such as venue hire, equipment, transport to event, and staff/volunteer costs. Age range: all ages. Up to $4,000
- Volunteers/Officials – projects improving the quality of physical activity opportunities. Includes, but is not limited to, volunteer training and development and paid staff training and development, co-design activities, and club development. Age range: all ages. Up to $2,000
- Travel – up to $300 to support individuals based in Invercargill. Up to $800 to support teams based in Invercargill. Individuals and teams must not be professional or part of a national team.
- Accessibility - resources for individuals who face financial difficulties. May include equipment and clothing, membership fees, and transport costs. Applied for through Regional Sports Organisations Organisation, community agencies or social agencies. . Up to $300 per individual. Age range: 5 -25 years old.
Note also that higher priority will be given to applications, that will result in increased opportunities or provide greater equity to opportunities for
o People struggling to participate or currently missing out
o Organisations supporting high deprivation communities.
What we can't fund?
The following will not be considered for funding:
Cost associated with professional athletes, professional sports teams, academies, or representative teams.
Equipment needed for capital repairs or maintenence (e.g lawn mowers)
Projects or programmes that have already commenced or have been completed
Projects or activities outside of Invercargill City boundaries unless there is a clear benefit to the residents of Invercargill City.
Events of activies for the purpose of fundraising, lobbying or religious instruction.
No loans
Staff wages for those already employed.
