  • Peer Mentor Camp Application Form

  • There will be up to 4 places available for Peer Mentors aged 19-20 at the LIFEbeat summer camp in 2025. As part of your application, we invite you to reflect on ways in which you can become a role model for others. Peer Mentor spaces are assigned to those young people who are ready to step up and take on a leadership role within the camps, and priority will be given to first-time applicants. 

    Once your application is received, you will be invited to a short interview with the LIFEbeat team. These interviews will take place during Tuesday 20th May 2025.

  • What LIFEbeat expects of Peer Mentors

    As someone who has been to camp before, there are different expectations of you as a Peer Mentor and it is important that you are clear about what we need from you in the role:

    • Attend Peer Mentor training before camps.
    • Be a positive role model: participate fully in plenaries, workshops and family groups.
    • Support young people coming to camp for the first time and co-create the kind of community you would like to be part of!
    • Support young people to participate fully
    • Support staff who are delivering workshops (Peer Mentors will not be expected to lead workshops)
    • Respect the boundaries around phones, smoking and safety.
    • As all Staff & Young People, agree to follow all non-negotiables and agreements on Camp.
    • Think about your personal goals for camp and how to get the most out of the experience.
    • Step up and take some creative risks - be willing to try new things.
  • Non-Negotiables

    • No drugs or alcohol
    • No violence or aggressive behaviour 
    • No sex, sexual intimacy, sexual behaviour or coupling including through mobile phones, or social media 
    • No bullying, discrimination or insulting behaviour towards others (including but not limited to, discrimination because of age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sex, and sexual orientation) 
    • No leaving the site

    Peer mentors who do not adhere to the non-negotiables will not be invited to return to LIFEbeat in the future.

    At LIFEbeat it is important that everyone feels safe and also has a great time at camp. In order to create a respectful environment at LIFEbeat Summer Camps we ask everyone (both staff and young people) to agree to some non-negotiable guidelines. All Peer Mentors will have to agree to abide by the young person code of conduct (click here to view) as a condition of accepting a place on the programme:

    No drugs or alcohol
    No violence or aggressive behaviour
    No sex or sexual intimacy, including through mobile phones, or social media
    No bullying, discrimination or insulting behaviour towards others, including but not limited to, discrimination because of age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sex and sexual orientation No leaving the site


    As well as these non-negotiables, we expect the following from all Camp participants:

    Respect the venue and facilities used in the programme
    Smoking and vaping are not allowed on this programme
    Agree to the unplugged phone policy

    ● The information I have provided on this application is accurate to the best of my knowledge
    ● I will supply LIFEbeat with all relevant information to complete a Disclosure Barring Check if necessary (LIFEbeat’s policy is to renew all staff DBS’s every 3 years)
    ● I agree to attend any pre-camp training sessions arranged and a post-camp debrief
