• Valley Community Presbyterian Church Pastor Nominating Committee Application

    Valley’s Church Officer Nominating Committee (CONC) is tasked with selecting a slate of Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) candidates that will be presented to the congregation at a special called meeting for approval and election into position. Valley’s PNC will be selected through an application process, interviews, prayer, research and discussion. CONC will develop a representative slate of faithful church members that feel called to serve on the PNC, work effectively together as a team and take responsibility for the comprehensive process that will result in the next Pastor at Valley Community Presbyterian Church (VCPC).

    Valley’s CONC has developed the following criteria for potential PNC applicants:

    • The PNC will consist of 7 members and represent the diversity within our congregation.
    • The PNC member must be a member of Valley Community Presbyterian Church (VCPC
    • The PNC member must be an active and committed member of our faith community.
    • Candidates must be available after 4-21-2023 for an interview.
    • One serving Elder and one serving Deacon must be on the committee.
    • Any candidate must be willing to commit to an approximate 12-month process involved in calling a new Pastor.
    • Elected members will be required to participate in a workshop with Session to outline the re visioning process done on behalf of VCPC.

    Qualifications of a PNC member:

    • A strong faith in Christ as evidenced by an active prayer life and active participation in the life of VCPC.
    • Spiritual gifts of wisdom, discernment, and encouragement with character traits of integrity, leadership, understanding, humility and sincerity in caring for others.
    • Excellent skills in listening, communication and organization while being guided to seek and follow God’s will and build consensus with others on the committee.
    • Personal discipline and commitment to maintain strict confidentiality during the duration of the PNC’s work.
    • Willingness to commit to the necessary time with the committee throughout the duration of its work.

    Selection Process of the PNC:

    • Applications must be turned in by 3-19-2023. Applications can be sent by email to ruthann.marquis@gmail.com or left in a sealed envelope with Angela Graham in the church office.
    • Interviews with potential candidates will take place after 4-24-2023. A slate of nominees that represent the broad perspective and range of experience within our congregation will be selected and confirmed.
    • A PNC nomination letter and Bio of confirmed nominees will be made available to Valley members before a special congregational meeting.
    • A special congregational meeting will be called on Sunday 5-14-2023 to present the PNC slate of nominees for a congregational vote.

All applicants will receive a letter regarding their status before the slate of candidates for the PNC is presented to the congregation for a vote at the special congregational meeting.
