  • Sara Ann Comer Memorial Agricultural Scholarship

  • The Sara Ann Comer Scholarship was established to honor this outstanding young agricultural leader. Ms. Comer, a York County Young Farmer & Rancher Committee Member, was a senior at Clemson

    University majoring in Agricultural Education. During her time at Clemson, Sara Ann was involvedin

    many organizations such as Sigma Alpha Agricultural Sorority and Clemson Collegiate Future Farmers of

    Sara Ann was a true advocate for agriculture, spending many hours educating others on the importance of the industry and supporting those who farm. Whether she was helping out at her family farm- equipment business, or coordinating events through CCFFA at Clemson, folks knew where Sara Ann stood in her views on the importance of agriculture. To encourage students to pursue degrees in their passion for agriculture like her, the Sara Ann Comer Memorial Agricultural Scholarship will provide financial support for selected recipients. Annually, the York County Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Committee hosts the S.A.C. Shoot4Ag fundraiser. Proceeds from this event are used to fund the Sara Ann Comer Memorial Agricultural Scholarship.

  • ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Application Details

    • Applications are blind-scored
      • Applicant name and personal information is omitted from the selection process. Recipients are chosen based on application answers and credentials.
    • The scholarship committee will select 1-4 recipients a year based on qualified applications received.
    • Up to $7,500 awarded.
    • Previous applicants and recipients CAN apply and receive this scholarship more than once.

    Applicants Must Be

    • York County resident
    • Farm Bureau Members (Parent or Youth Membership accepted)
    • High school senior OR currently enrolled college student
    • Accepted/Enrolled in a two or four year college/university in addition to one or more of the following
      • Enrollment in an agricultural degree program or major OR
      • Plan to pursue a full-time or part-time career in an agricultural field upon graduation

    All applications must contain the completed form along with the following support documents:

    • Two letters of recommendation
      • Recommendation letters must be from non-family members who can speak for your involvement in agriculture
    • Copy of high school transcript and/or collegiate transcript
