Important: Our festival celebrates the life and music of Howard “Louie Bluie” Armstrong, a Black string-band musician who played an eclectic mix of folk, blues, jazz, country, pop, and gospel music from the early 20th century. He also played music from other cultures and sang in several languages. In booking this festival, our mission is to celebrate his unique creativity by presenting music that reflects his diverse repertoire while also celebrating the music of the early 20th century Black string-band tradition and the contemporary outgrowths of that tradition.
