2023 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION CRITERIA
Background
The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. was founded by educator and civil rights activist Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune on December 5, 1935. The mission of NCNW is to "lead, advocate for and empower women of African descent". The Brevard County Section was chartered on March 27,2020 and is pleased to offer our scholarship in honor of Dr. Bethune.
Scholarship Details
The Scholarship will be in the amount of $500 for one chosen student.
'The scholarship will only be awarded once.
Application deadline is April 15, 2023
The awardee may be requested to attend a meeting or event in May 6, 2023 to accept the scholarship award. The awardee is strongly encouraged to research and connect if applicable to NCNW collegiate section and/or community section at the college/community of acceptance.
Qualifications
The scholarship awardee must meet the following criteria:
- Be a student of African descent
- Be a senior at a public high school in Brevard County, Florida
- Have a minimum of 3.0 GPA
- Be accepted to a two or four-year university in the Fall of 2023
- Cannot be related to any current Brevard Section members
