3 divisions with trophies for 1st -3rd place, plus additional awards. All other players recieve a particapation chess medal.

Understanding Chess Ratings:

If your child is playing in their First Rated Chess Tournament they are an UNRATED player.

If your child is in 1st - 4th grade ..... They may play in the "Beginners Section Unrated - 350"

If your child is in 5th - 12th grade ......They will play in our "Beginners/Intermediate Section Unrated - 600"

After the tournament, we have 72 hours to pay and submit the tournament to US Chess. US Chess has 2-6 days to rated the tournament.

Most students will get their first rating or and updated rating about a week after the event. Parents can go to www.uschess.org and look up their child's membership to see their new rating which they will use for the next tournament.

As parents you can always choose to have your child play in a harder section meaning they can "Play Up" a section.

Awards Ceremony:

We are blessed to say our tournaments are filling up, however, our awards ceremony was becoming longer and longer. We want to respect our parents and their time. We want to streamline our Awards Ceremony by having two ceremonies.

Advance Division:

Player Only Award Ceremony at 3:30

Parent pick-up at 4:00

Beginners and Intermediate Divisions:

Parents are invited to come at 4:30 to participate in the Awards Ceremony

Event Ends at 5:00
Asking for a BYE ... examples

If you know you will be late to the tournament (arriving around 11:30-11:45), but you want your student to participate you can receive a 1st round bye. Your child will not play their 1st game, but will receive 1/2 points for that round, then your child would play the next 3 games.

If you know you need to leave early (leaving around 3:00), you can request a 4th round bye. Your child would play 3 games and miss the last game, but receive 1/2 point score for that last game.

Health Policy:

- All coaches have received the Covid Vaccine

- Hand sanitizer bottles are placed at every chessboard and required before and after each round

- No sharing of drinks or food is allowed

- Masks are optional

This is a drop off event. We are sorry but we do not have the room in our home for players and for parents to stay for the whole event. However, if this is your 1st event with us you may stay for the 1st hour.
