This year we will award one $2500 scholarship to a deserving incoming junior or senior collegiate student currently enrolled in a 4-year college/university located in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area majoring in Criminal Justice, Psychology or Sociology.
Applicants must meet the following criteria
- Incoming junior OR senior collegiate students currently enrolled in a 4-year college/university located in the Greater Phoenix area majoring in Criminal Justice, Psychology or Sociology
And also:
- Be a U.S. Citizen, legal permanent resident or an eligible non-U.S. citizen
- Must have a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities.
- Must have a record of participation in extracurricular school activities.
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Must have the recommendation of a Guidance Counselor or Academic Advisor

Before You Begin
You should have the following documents ready for upload before you begin this application:
Essay/Personal Statement-Upload an essay/personal statement that has one-inch margins on all sides, is double-spaced, grammatically correct, typed in Times New Roman 11-12 pt. font, does not exceed 2 pages, and includes your name and essay title on each page. Your essay/personal statement (500 word minimum) must address the following questions:
- What steps have you taken to make a positive impact within the low socioeconomic communities?
- The mental health needs in the United States are reaching new highs and public officials need to make the restoration of the mental health of our nation a top priority. If put in the position of power and influence, what changes and/or improvements would you make?
- Do you think our criminal justice system is broken? If so, why?
- In light of community mistrust in law enforcement, how should law-enforcement officers of color engage the community in discussions on systemic issues like racism and police reform.
- How do you envision, psychology or sociology being utilized or applied in the execution of criminal justice?
