This year we will award one $2500 scholarship to a deserving incoming junior or senior collegiate student currently enrolled in a 4-year college/university located in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area majoring in Criminal Justice, Psychology or Sociology.

Applicants must meet the following criteria
- Incoming junior OR senior collegiate students currently enrolled in a 4-year college/university located in the Greater Phoenix area majoring in Criminal Justice, Psychology or Sociology
And also:
- Be a U.S. Citizen, legal permanent resident or an eligible non-U.S. citizen
- Must have a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities.
- Must have a record of participation in extracurricular school activities.
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Must have the recommendation of a Guidance Counselor or Academic Advisor

Before You Begin

You should have the following documents ready for upload before you begin this application:

Essay/Personal Statement-Upload an essay/personal statement that has one-inch margins on all sides, is double-spaced, grammatically correct, typed in Times New Roman 11-12 pt. font, does not exceed 2 pages, and includes your name and essay title on each page. Your essay/personal statement (500 word minimum) must address the following questions:
1. What steps have you taken to make a positive impact within the low socioeconomic communities?
2. The mental health needs in the United States are reaching new highs and public officials need to make the restoration of the mental health of our nation a top priority. If put in the position of power and influence, what changes and/or improvements would you make?
3. Do you think our criminal justice system is broken? If so, why?
4. In light of community mistrust in law enforcement, how should law-enforcement officers of color engage the community in discussions on systemic issues like racism and police reform.
5. How do you envision, psychology or sociology being utilized or applied in the execution of criminal justice?
