Phi Iota Chapter - Dr. George M. Greene Scholarship 2025

This year we will award a $2000 1st place scholarship and a $1500 2nd place scholarship to deserving Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area students majoring in Education or Industrial Arts.

Applicants must meet the following criteria
- Graduating senior from a high school in the Greater Phoenix area entering the fields of Education or Industrial Arts
OR
- Undergraduate college student currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college/university located in the Greater Phoenix area majoring in Education or Industrial Arts
And also:
- Be a U.S. Citizen, legal permanent resident or an eligible non-U.S. citizen
- Must have a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities.
- Must have a record of participation in extracurricular school activities.
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Minimum ACT score of 15 or SAT score of 850, not mandatory, but extra credit will be given in application scoring assessments
- Must have the recommendation of a High School Guidance Counselor or Academic Advisor

Before You Begin

You should have the following documents ready for upload before you begin this application:

Essay/Personal Statement-Upload an essay/personal statement that has one-inch margins on all sides, is double-spaced, grammatically correct, typed in Times New Roman 11-12 pt. font, does not exceed 2 pages, and includes your name and essay title on each page. Your essay/personal statement (500 word minimum) must address the following questions:
1. What steps have you taken to make a positive impact within the low socioeconomic communities?
2. Recent studies revealed that two-thirds of American children were not proficient readers and that the achievement gap in reading between high and low performers is widening. If you could create your own educational plan what would it look like and why? What are things you would do to improve the American education system.
3. Discuss how Artificial Intelligence will propel advancements in the Industrial Arts discipline in the next decade.
4. Do you feel the US public educational system is under attack, and if so, what are some of your major concerns.
5. If you were the Secretary of Education, what would your top priority/priorities be?
